I know this is hugely nitpicky, but my goal was finding a one-handed solution that both charged and held the phone. Plugging in a loose cable isn't one-handed.

hey whatever works for you lol.

This is the main reason I wish the iphone had wireless charging so I can just "stick" my iphone on the mount and also have it charged in a one handed type user experieince.

I have the first version. My issue is with the adhesive
The first version has been replaced with PRO versions, not only with the stronger magnets but a more grippy suction mechanism, if my understanding is correct.

The older types had the black pattern on the magnet:

But the newer types have a plain looking (and much stronger) magnet:

What vehicle mounts are you guys using? I don't like the suction cup variety. Id prefer either a cup mount or cd slot mount for my truck. Any good ones you guys recommend?

I use a air vent mount. I'd had issues with the suction cup mounts falling off at very inopportune moments. However I have found that some cars have vertical vents and it doesn't work so well in them. Others have no way to stop the air flow so in the winter the heat cooks my poor phone.

Do you have a cup mount that you like?

There are three ways to fix it. The suction thing, that's not suitable for you,the air vent mounts, but of course you have to be careful in cold climates,as the air vents are used to heat up the inside of your car.
The third alternative is to use Siri,a Bluetooth hands free, and put the phone in some storage space or in the built in ashtray in the car. As I don't smoke when driving,I use the ashtrays.

Can't even really say I've seen an "ashtray" in most cars from the last decade or so (at least ones sold in US).

The proclip is by far the best mount available. It's got custom mounts for your specific vehicle and they are solid. Easy to use 1 handed and overall easily worth the price.

I tried a vent mount with the iPhone 6 but it broke my vent when I hit a pothole. I'm using a CD slot mount from Anker now that has held up fine so far. Drove through a construction zone today with multiple steel covers to drive over and had no issues. My only minor complaint would be that it obscures the LCD screen on the radio.
