Sounds like I probably should wait for the Ethernet adaptor and try that first.
why? you could have called apple early on, and gotten help from the most efficient source for help. anyway, keep us posted (but my guess is, you'll finally get it worked out... by calling apple).

Ventura turned out to be a nightmare for me. Would connect to Wi-fi hub but not to the internet and LAN effectively rendering my 2019 laptop bricked. Spent hours trying to get to the bottom of it but eventually decided to just get rid of the damn thing and downgrade to Monterey. Sadly Apple don't make that easy. None of the usual methods worked so resorted to a boot installer which has always done the trick in the past. Recovery mode doesn't seem to work like in Monterey though and when I select the Monterey boot installer it goes straight to a Ventura install via Wi-Fi. After a couple of frustrating attempts I went to Disk Utility in recovery mode and deleted the Ventura drive. I hoped that might stop there silliness but now when I select the Monterey installer it still tries to download Ventura via Wi-Fi but fails with a warning sign over the spinning globe and an Apple link that doesn't help at all. Good old Apple. I've seen some hostile OS releases over the years but this one really takes the biscuit.
Install Monterey via boot USB. Ventura has updated your macbook's firmware for you.

OK if you're sure it doesn't just default to Wi-fi. Just tested the USB boot loader I made on another machine and it installed Monterey without issue so that can be eliminated as a potential culprit. Ordered an adapter. I guess I'll know straight away if it asks for a wi-fi password again.
I do it all the time for work; you'll be good once you get an Ethernet adapter

Here's a baffling surprise.

I had one last attempt with the Monterey USB boot loader this morning.

Usual procedure: click on Monterey icon, select Wi-Fi network, enter password then watch the globe carousel and the progress bar inching towards the inevitable... triangular warning sign (!) and the helpful link to as non-existent web page (support.apple.com/startup). Then my phone rings and I move away from the computer to take the call which turns out to be a long one (30mins+). I come back to my laptop which is now sounding like an ailing hairdryer and there's the now familiar triangle of death...but what's this? The progress bar suddenly starts up again and after a while lo and behold the recovery menu comes up. No sign of Monterey in that but by this stage I'll take whatever I can get which of course is Ventura. The mighty Apple works in mysterious ways.

I have been a mac user since 2010, Snow Leopard and update when apple release a new OS, never a problem before. Before Ventura that is! Both my 2021 iMac and 2019 Macbook pro have worked fine before Ventura. Network the same, wifi the same, every other device on my wifi is fine.

Ventura what the hell have they done? I can only connect on the iMac via the wired port, like a time machine going back several years.

Apple support = useless,
(1) it must be your wifi,
(2) it must be your router,
(3) it must be your service provider.

Apple IT IS VENTURA THAT HAS CAUSED THIS PROBLEM

ventura has caused a problem FOR YOU, not for everyone. call apple back, get better help.

Seems like there are others not just ME!

So you call apple expecting help then you have to ring back? So do I call apple and ask for BETTER help? How does that work? Surely support means exactly that.

I am not a newbie to macs! Loved for years! FIRST problem, no help!

Weird I typed Ventura killed my wifi and came to this thread. SO NOT JUST ME!

not just you, but not everyone. either way, you need a better support person, someone willing to put in the effort to help; it sounds like you didn't get that on your first try.

have you tried rebooting your modem & router? either way, call apple again, give them your case#, and get the support you need. and good luck!

Everything rebooted more than once! Now gone back to ethernet plug in, only way to connect to internet. Have purchased a usbc to ethernet adaptor for macbook.

Also tried connecting to iphone personal hotspot. It sees the wifi but will not connect. Went to friends house with macbook did not work there either when it did previously.

No Little Snitch app on macs, so not that.

I will roll back using Acronis to Monterey image.

are you by chance using little snitch? if so that needs to be updated.
Not using little snitch, thanks for the suggestion, saw that in other posts.

I have been on several sites where Ventura has impacted wifi. Weird how it works for some not for others!

Killed a MacBookPro18,2 as well on this end. Long recovery process. Very, very bad release from Apple. In all my 21 years of Mac OS X / macOS usage and robust beta testing many, many releases this has been most certainly unexpected and terrible. The real murderer in the room is that they have eliminated the ability to easily boot to an external USB backup drive to keep one's system intact and ease the recovery process. This is especially the case for systems with larger drives and lengthy copying requirements. Terribly sad.

Nope... not any more. Ever since macOS went to the sealed OS volume and the separate Data volume, TM no longer backs up the OS. So you have to use Internet recovery to get the OS back, then you can import your data from the TM drive.
So if an update goes bad, is there any way to restore to a previous state of the operating system?

Is there a third-party program that can do this?

I get keeping a back up of your files is part of any backup solution but it’s also nice to have the ability to undo damage to the operating system without doing a full reinstall.

I won’t be testing out Ventura till at least everyone that’s all excited to get it gets the bugs reported to Apple. I always tell people don’t rush to download these major updates on any OS if the machine is important to what you’re doing. What’s more important, having some cool new feature or having a working machine. If having a cool new feature is more important because it’s a secondary machine, then go for it. If you need that machine for work, or some other purpose than no way.

Carbon Copy Cloner can make a bootable backup. See this support article. But there are some restrictions and it is a hassle. For example, Apple Silicon Macs won't boot from a clone if the internal storage has failed.

I guess that I have joined the club. I updated my 2021 MBP 14" to Ventura earlier today and now it has no internet connection. I have tried all the easy stuff like reseting modem/router, rebooting laptop, etc. I don't even get an internet connection when hot spotting off of my iPhone. All of my other devices are working just fine off of my WiFi connection, so it is definitely an issue with the MBP.

Stuff like this is why I usually wait on point updates of new versions of MacOS. Juggeling too many projects atm to take the risk.

I'd like to share my experience with this topic, since I have been experiencing the same problems with my M1 MBP 13.
Since upgrading to Ventura, most of the time, WiFi is unable to connect to the internet.

Since finding a solution to this problem was crucial for me to use the computer, I even updated to the 13.1 Beta 1 with no help.

Here are the two things that did help, and for now it seems to be working. YMMV, I appreciate any further inputs if someone else is experiencing the same problems.

- Open terminal and type "sudo dscacheutil -flushcache;sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"

The above solution worked for me for a couple days, until it didn't. Then I proceeded to enable ( in my case it was disabled, but in case if in yours is turned on, you may try turning it off ) Private Relay.

- Open System Settings > Click on your name on the top left > iCloud > Private Relay > Change the toggle

Just got off the phone with Apple Support. It turns out that the problem that I was having was caused by Little Snitch. My MBP is now back online.
