Those of you having trouble, try rebooting while holding the shift key. That starts in safe mode, which stops all third party launch items from running. If that fixes the problem, that tells you to start looking at those launch items for the culprit.


You can find launch items in the Login items section of System Settings, or in the folders listed below.

~/Library/LaunchAgents (~ is your users folder)
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
/Library/Extensions
/System/Library/Extensions/

The procedure to get into safe mode on an Apple silicon Mac is a bit different. You need to shutdown your Mac then start it by pressing and holding the power/Touch ID button until you get startup options displayed. Then click on the startup disk while holding shift and click on the Continue in Safe Mode button.

Yes correct. That is mentioned in the support article, but I should have pointed it out.
