I'm disappointed about how Cmd + ` now works. It suppose to switch between windows but many software dont work anymore and even if it works, the stage manager is kinda bothering for both on and off.

It works fine with Google Chrome but Finder is kinda weird and some software don't even work to switch between windows. I already checked the shortcut setting but no issues at all.

Something is not right since the shortcut suppose to work with all apps and windows. How come some or many software and apps dont work in a same way?

Same issue here. I use this keyboard shortcut to toggle between an email in my inbox (in Apple Mail) and a reply I am composing, but it no longer works. Annoying to say the least. Not sure if it’s a bug, or intentional.

Did you try to change the keys combination? I have set it to cmd-< (on a non US keyboard) and it works everywhere.

Yes, I changed the key combination a few times, to no avail. I have a US keyboard and wasn’t able to try the combination you‘re using. I guess I’ll keep experimenting…

damn, there's a fix for this (something in system settings), but... i can't think of what it is right now. it was discussed in the beta discussions on this forum some time ago; try searching the forum.

command ` is working in safari (and all apps) once you change a system setting... 🤔

Seems working fine for me. Updated yesterday from Monterey.

Tried with Finder, Outlook and vscode. Switching between sub windows works like before with cmd + `.

it's something in system settings, that has to be disabled (think it's in desktop & dock). hopefully someone else on the forum remembers the setting (or someone finds it in a search)!

For those having issues, did you turn on Stage Manager? Doesn't that modify the CMD + `

Maybe turning off stage manager will fix it?

In my case, I wasn’t using Stage Manager, but I did try turning it on to see if it made a difference. It did not. Turned it off and the problem persisted. A simple reboot fixed it.

what does that mean, exactly?

many of us are using command ` without issue. so it's fixable, within the system.
Because not all software is causing the problem. Capture One Pro for example, CMD + ` is not working at all.

Safari works fine. But some software and finder? Nope.

For Finder, it's quite bothering, it works but instead, it adds additional step which goes back to the stage manger. I have no idea why tho.

perhaps i misunderstood you. early in the beta, command ` did not work for me, in any app. something i turned off in system settings fixed it (i swear it's in a thread on this forum somewhere). anyway, apologies 🙏

it is fixable. it works here in any app (including rotating thru finder windows).

have you tried disabling stage manager, then rebooting? just curious (i don't use stage manager). altho.. if that's the fix, it's a problem if one does use stage manager... 🤔

Then what's the solution? Disabling stage manger and then rebooting didnt work.

This is Finder with and without stage manger. Both didnt happen from macOS Monterey. The first one is without stage manger but as you can see, it grays out or some kind of 3rd windows exists. The 2nd one is with stage manger and it goes back and forth.

if i could remember what it was, i would share that. but the fix is here on this forum, if you search for it. otherwise, be patient and someone else will hopefully post about it.

It's because Mail App is missing the menu item Window > "Cycle Through Windows". Compare it to the Finder > Window menu and you will see what i mean

I have no idea what you are saying. I tested with Finder app, not Mail app.
