Anyone else getting a failure here? Just sits forever in iTunes then gives error "The iPad "iPad" cannot be restored at this time because the iPad software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable."

Same here, I have tried 4 times already.

My iPad just came from the Apple Store yesterday too.

Servers might just be overwhelmed. . . What kind of internet connections are you guys on? I'm wondering if my school is blocking a port it needs to connect.

No error message, I'm just stuck on "Backing Up Ipad". It has been on that screen for about an hour now.

I am not getting a specific error code, just he dialog window with the stop sign and the error message I mentioned above.

Is the bar moving at all? It took mine at least an hour to back-up as I had not done so in quite a while.

I'm at home. I'm wondering if this has to do with my router setting. I just recently did some port forwarding. I'll revert back to original and see if it works.

Oh thats probably a different issue than what I'm having. I'm getting a stupid error which according to apple support documents is due to port issues.

Thanks
AE

AE- Let us know if you have any success. Support docs say 80 and 443 need to be open. If memory serves me correctly that is just http and https. iTunes doesn't seem to use non standard ports.

they need a better way to verify these updates, i mean they allow you to download it but not install because of a server issue:rolleyes:

Mine is Downloading really slow it's it's taken 30mins to drop 5 mins on download time . Arggghhh been waiting months for this and to be hit with a server clogg is fffing annoying. Especially when apple have a new data centre the size of a small African nation !!!!!! Fume!!!!

Did you people actually not think that the servers would be over whelmed on a 30 minute download?

Think about it.:p

It could be several days before it get better.

Download went fine, it is the authorization server that is hanging for me.

I want my 3G updated just like you but it was pretty well predictable that Apple's servers would overload instantly the minute it was released. There are people just waiting to push the button for days now, like camping outside a Radio Shack on black Friday!

I will wait as the last thing I want to do is trash my Pad.:apple:

Hi,

So it seems that the AppleTV is updating just fine, So this has to do with either my computer or iPad or itunes.

I can't resolve the issue even when I reverted things to the original way on my router and airport.

Thanks
AE
