"Verifying iPad restore with Apple" fails when updating to 4.2

Finally? it worked? where you getting an error? or just couldnt connect to server and got stuck on verification?

Still broken for me... been trying for hours now... I was getting error 1604, then 3004, now mostly a generic could not contact the server message. I tried rebooting, tried different sync cables, tried using a different network altogether, but no luck

it worked!!!! Ahhh finally. Ok i came to update you guys. I was getting the 3004 error as some of you are.
What i did was turn off dropbox and lilsnitch... My thought was that dropbox could be using that port or lilsnitch is blocking access without prompting me first.
I hope you guys resolve this since im so happy to be done with this

this blows what im trying now is a restore on my moms macbook that doesn't have 10.1 itunes and seeing if i can update my ipad to 3.2.2 first then update it normal instead of a restore it may not work but we'll see in a few minutes
Ahh sorry to hear that man, I can only assume that this has to do with a server connection error. Though it would be from apple's side rather than your computer.

Np, I had this feeling as soon as I got the error that coming was disturbing the connection. I thought it was my torrent client, but that didn't resolve it. Then I was too stubborn to try dropbox because I suspected it but wasn't sure enough to try..
I'm glad i gave it a try, and that you got it to work as well.

so annoyed with this. I wish I came here first. cause I was on 4.2gmb and it was working fine. i figured id update it to the official release quickly now not only do I have to restore it instead of update my ipad is completely out of commission til the verification server comes back. ugh.
i know and your still not alone i really wish they made this easier... i can only imagine what the less tech savy think
I finally got a verification like 5-10 min after my last post my ipad is almost dont putting all the music back on.
wow im about to be in tears this is taking forever i try to get a verification every minute!
Been trying the last 50 minutes and everytime it can't contact the server. I've had an iPhone since the 3G release, and an iPad since launch week and I've never experienced this much problem updating before.
ive been trying for like 5 hours now i still cant get it.. i haven't had problems like this either on my ipt2g
I had this problem, I re-downloaded the firmware and then it worked... after 3 hours of frustration.
Dowloading firmware again?
If iTunes freezes also how can we make a new download of the foirmware then re-install it?
Rush on the "Update" button before iTunes has time to freeze?
