I switched from ATT to verizon. When I paid for my preorder last night, it said monthly charges $120, now on my confirmation email it has a $20 line access charge. So its $140.

I called verizon and they said they can not help me until i get the phone..
I asked her does anyone know what a monthly line access charge is, she said she did, so i asked her to explain it to me, "i cant do that until you are activated and in the system" haha

anyone know what it is?! thanks.

I also saw this charge on both the phones i ordered as a new customer. My estimated $140 monthly bill is now $180. can anyone explain this?

Yeah I got that same message. Turned my estimated 160 bill into 200. Figured I would just deal with it when the time comes... it has to be a mistake right??

I was charged that, they claimed it was to port my number. I let them know I didn't see where that was disclosed and they claimed it was "somewhere" in the contract so I let them know that it was not obvious at all (it was not and I never found it in the contract) so they took care of it. I don't see it on my bills now.

Same here. On the order review page it said monthly estimate would be $100. Got my confirmation email and it now says $120. I'm porting my number from AT&T. Could the additional $20 monthly access just be a one time thing on the first bill?

sam here, im guessing its just a charge for the first month because the monthly fee had ( ** ) in it and every other fee didn't

they told me they couldnt find me in the system when i gave them my info. i think my rep just was lazy and didnt know what to do. how are you able to check your bill? or do you already have verizon and just added a new line

I got this too. Its gotta be wrong, right?

are you all a new users to verizon?

Oh that's odd and yes to the guy who said no no to porting # fees and the FCC would have their ass. I was a new customer when it happened.

Same here. My estimate was $150 and then it said $190 on my last page ( for two)

Verizon seems a little deceptive in how pricing is displayed on their website. Did you do multiple phones?

From what I can tell with verizon, your first phone costs $40 for voice/text, your additional phones cost $20 each. Your data plan is shared so that is whatever the cost, no additional cost per phone.

So if you had the 8GB/month plan for instance with 2 phones, it'd be $60 for the 2 phones and then $90 for the 8GB data plan, which would be $150/month.

Wrong.. smartphones are $40 each and dumb phones are $30 each plus the data plan.

Verizon's new plans basically consist of a data plan, text, and minutes for that any device can use, those prices are listed online. However he is the kicker... each device itself has a monthly charge also... So if you have a smart phone it is a 40$ per month charge for the smart phone itself BEFORE data/voice. This is detailed at https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/plan-information/?page=share-everything for reference.

Right now my wife and I have an iPhone each so that is 80$ and then we also have the 8GB plan which is 90$ (unlimited talk/text). This comes to 170$ a month BEFORE taxes...

Now if you have a discount from your job or profession the discount is ONLY applied to the data plan and not the individual device plan... So also keep that in mind.

Wrong, 4gb of data cost 70, and each phone is 40$ which would equate to = $80 for 2 smart phones = $150

Not 40+$20.

This is why I will never go to Verizon. My parents have two Verizon iPhone 4S's and they get charged crap like this every month. I've looked at their bills and it's a line access charge here, taxes there, 911 taxes over there. Their plan should only be around $160 but it ends up being $200+ each month. It's outrageous. They've tried calling but Verizon doesn't do jack. AT&T is just as evil but at least when I set up my plan I know each month it's going to be that price plus about $4 in taxes.

**Our Surcharges (incl. Fed. Univ. Svc. of 15.7% of interstate & int'l telecom charges (varies quarterly), 16 cents Regulatory & 99 cents Administrative/line/mo. & others by area) are not taxes (details: 1-888-684-1888); gov't taxes & our surcharges could add 7%-41% to your bill.

From the e-mail at the very bottom.

it might be the total monthly bill estimate with all the taxes and fees assosiated in. I get 120.00** then

At least thats what i hope it is. otherwise it should only be $100.

haha should have been a comma after taxes lol

estimated bill is say $100, but by the time taxes, fees, 911 charges etc are tacked on its probably close to $20 higher

haha i got ya! well this is a separate fee, it says line access charge.

Just spoke with Verizon chat Customer Service explaining the situation. She stated that however many phones you chose and the data plan is what you will be charged for. Of course first bill will be higher with activation fees and prorate. She stated she had not heard of that charge but will escalate it in case it is an error.

no, it's $40 a phone for talk/text. Then the data is shared.

For me it was $40 X 2 for two phones, plus $70 for 4GB. So, $150.
