If my ship date is truly going to be 9/30, i am going to have issues as my closing on my house got moved up a week. Went to my local verizon store, but they can't do anything because it was an online order. Now trying to change addresses or see what can be done. Hopefully this doesnt turn into a bigger CF than it already is.
Your best bet may actually be to deal directly with the carrier if VZW won't help. UPS will hold it at a distribution center, FedEx will reroute to a FedEx store, both at no charge.
