Oh that’s funny cause I’ve been dealing with the engineers at apple and they admit to a bug going on so.....

There’s no reason to blame Apple for a bug, they are probably working on fixing it - meanwhile many other people aren’t experiencing that bug and can use highspeed 5G on their iPhones

It massively depends on where you are located. I got those crappy 5G speeds at my house, but I was downtown this past weekend, and I hit WAY faster speeds than I’ve ever gotten on LTE. 143Mbps download and 41Mbps upload.

I think Verizon has the weakest standard 5G network right now. They focused almost entirely on the UW mmWave network, which only works within a VERY short range and doesn’t penetrate buildings.

From what I’m told Verizon has the best 5g. I get the entire UWB thing. I know you have to be right on top of it but standard 5g is supposed to be dramatically different than lte and it’s not. Verizon is supposed to have the best 5g technology in the game. I guess it’s just a waiting game.

100% correct!

VZW with their advertising by their marketing dept sure has people fooled.

I have TMO and have strong 5G Sub6 service everywhere at around 90mbps (Los Angeles County) but do not have mm Wave (24-39 GHz) service unless I drive 40 miles to the west side of LA or the beaches....

But then TMO is ahead of the 5G curve with acquisition of Sprint which made it easier to convert them to 5G.

VZW is the slowest and least coverage for 5G because they are concentrating their efforts with short range non penetrating mm Wave instead of using a longer range, building penetrating Sub6 bands.

I changed my plan from 75g of 4g lte to get 5g but it took me down to 50g of data. Fraud!

So you have to pay more to get 5G from VZW ??

I'd rather use the newer 4G LTE modem hardware in the 12 (Qualcomm) that has faster data throughput than the older Intel modem hardware.

Since 5G is not in your area, ask VZW to give you more 4G data while you wait for 5G towers....

...it’s only dramatically different in the absolute most ideal conditions.

For 99% of the time it’s just going to be what the promise of 4G was fulfilled.

Honestly, VZW sucks. Riding on their reputation for way too long. Not showing up to spectrum auctions, touting UWB which is pretty much useless, super late to mid band 5G deployment and can't figure out esim for the life of them. It's a no for me dawg. IMO TMO is gonna crap on all their front lawns, pretty much already has. Let's see where the cards fall after everyone deploys the spectrum they own.

Dude, it’s a first gen 5g phone. 5g network isn’t even around most major cities. It’s going to be another year or two before you see the results you want on command.

5G has been "himmed" and "hawwed" now by most of the carriers for over a year and a half and yet the service is still pretty crappy even in larger cities like Orlando, FL where I live. Meanwhile, the carriers continue to cheerlead how wonderful their 5G service is which is anything but true.

Even with that it doesn't mean it performs the same everywhere under different conditions. Even LTE coverage that is pretty much saturated and fast can be different in different locations and even under different conditions.

It has nothing to do with Apple. And in my case, it has everything to do with VZW.
Correct - VZW was slow on the 5G bandwagon...

Here's how you can get super fast 5G service - Joanna Stern from WSJ did a 5G RV speed test where she drove next to a VZW short range 5G mm Wave (insanely fast) and links many devices tethered to a 5G cellphone!

Here's the video that was very useful if you happen to be next to a 5G mm Wave tower:
