Verizon almost seems like a sure bet, until you factor the monthly costs for a single user on their shared data plans. You realize not only are they forcing you to pay for features you don't need (unlimited voice/text), but they charge more money for less data. Let's not forget unlimited customers have to pay full retail to keep grandfathered plans.

You couldn't pay me to switch to Verizon, I don't care how good their coverage is, it's not worth worrying what kind of anti-consumer policies they'll enact next. I've learned one thing watching these news updates, Verizon is one of the most dishonest and greedy providers in the business.

When someone asks me where to go to for an iPhone, I tell me AT&T for better coverage and speed, and Sprint for better value and policies. Verizon doesn't even enter the conversation anymore.

ATTs network is a joke. Verizon has almost as many LTE markets covered as does ATTs HSPDA+. Not to mention Verizon is turning on more LTE networks at a time than ATT and Verizon already has SIX times as many markets.

Thanks, AT&T. I stuck with you for cost reasons and you added LTE in Detroit just in time. Hopefully, my phone won't drop calls in my house as badly as before.

I know, Verizon is better.

I say the same exact thing, but about att. Their LTE coverage is a joke in Chicago.

They should have announced the list BEFORE the iPhone 5 preorder release. Especially since so many people jumped ship to Verizon because of AT&Ts lack of LTE in those markets.

LMAO!

Oh really? Have all that data do ya?

I think the two lists speak for themselves. With ATT's list I can easily point to any of the cities. With Verizon's list I need do an Apple Maps search. Is ATT really that far behind?

This is why I've stuck with Verizon from the start. Best Nation wide coverage. Period.

Verizon may have more LTE sites and be considered the number one cell provider, but I've learned in business that it's often better to do business with the number two or three in any given segment. Companies that are not the leader will often work harder to get better, or at least work harder to not loose more customers to the number one player.

I'm not supporting AT&T - they, like the rest of the domestic telcos suck for one reason or another (usually for lots of reasons). But comparing where AT&T is now with LTE is almost pointless as it's a moving target - this is true for all the telcos.

Didn't know I needed data for a subjective term. But yes, many of my co-workers with AT&T at my job in Seattle switched to Verizon. I switched from Sprint to Verizon vs AT&T because AT&T didn't have a market here. I have friends that also switched. So based on that, yes I know many people that have switched from AT&T. Don't know anyone that switched to them. Maybe you have the data that says otherwise.

You can have all the coverage you want in the world, but the only place I care about is my city (oklahoma city). Then, secondly my parents/in-laws city (dallas). AT&T has both.

Yeah, I'll be keeping my unlimited LTE, thanks. :)

This. And those without coverage who are in larger markets will be getting LTE coverage in the near future.

AT&T doesn't charge me for unlimited voice and texts, which I definitely don't need, and is therefore the cheaper option.

I love how everyone is laughing about how far behind AT&T is in LTE. what they don't realize is that while Verizon was putting ou substandard LTE in as many cities as possible for advert purposes, AT&T was building out a fauxG fall back system that, in many cases, is as fast as V's LTE. While also building out real LTE. The result is that when you aren't on LTE with AT&T you still have pretty damn fast 4G. When you aren't on LTE with V your connection still completely blows comparatively. In my opinion AT&T comes out on top in this.

Is this like the AT&T 4g lies. I have the 4s and wife has the 4. We both run a speed test and get same results but mine shows 4g hers shows 3g

It will always show 4g on the 4s. With LTE it will switch between the different modes and will show it in the top corner. I bet when you switch to EDGE network.. it shows the E in the corner now.

No love for Virginia. =/

I have yet to see a list or VZW news release announcing that Lubbock TX has 4G LTE. However, I checked the coverage map today and found that it has LTE coverage now!! So excited to use it on my iPhone 5. I guess VZW is adding LTE to some cities without announcing it? I checked the coverage map a few times this week after seeing some comments about it being turned on so I'm glad the map confirms it now

Some help please

Yes, but I like that the iPhone 5 can fall back to hspa+ 21, and AT&T has a good amount of that coverage.

Man I'll tell you, I'm so confused on what to do here. I live in Kalamazoo MI and am on AT&T. My contract is up on OCT. 11th and I was planning on switching to Verizon for their LTE coverage. But now I don't really know, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure where you get your info but you do not have to pay full retail to keep unlimited data with Verizon

This is well documented, you need to do your research.

That's understandable, some people care only about coverage and nothing else. Me personally, I'd rather get a good product at a good price, and not be tied to a company that's going to nickel and dime me to death every chance they get. Not that AT&T doesn't do this, but they're definitely the lesser of two evils if you ask me.

The hell you don't. Try to order an iPhone five and take the subsidy, see how fast your unlimited data goes bye bye. Do you live under a rock?

Under a rock apparently. I switched from a iphone 4 (unlimited data) to a droid razr maxx in june and it allowed it. However, my wife's line does indeed drop the unlimited data. That being said, no upgrade for the wife, and future purchases will be made via other venues.
