Nope, East coast people will get their orders in without a hitch and by the time the west coast comes online the servers will be buggered and the delays will be awful.

There is an article here on MacRumors that says the server will go online 12am West Coast side, so East Coast will have to be up till 3am for this.

Thus giving West Coast the advantage ( I live in Cali :) score)

Umm, isn't the entire US going to go live at the same time?

3 AM Eastern = 12 AM Pacific

Yes everyone will go online at the same time from what the article stated

West Coast I believe has the advantage because its easier to stay up till 12am then 3am :) unless you don't sleep much, then thats a different story perhaps :p

The article doesn't mention times, only the days. Going by ATT, its ata set time which isn't adjusted by timezones so people will have to wait for when 6AM, for example, in their timezone. If I overlooked it, please clarify.

Every other time there's been an iPhone launch online, it's been simultaneous, so it's safe to assume it will be that way again. It wouldn't make much sense to offer the preorder one time zone at a time since they say they only have a "limited" supply for preorder.

The only good thing about this as opposed to the iPhone 4 launch last year is that it's only available to existing customers on the 3rd. Last year, it was everyone trying to get on at the same time. On the other hand, this time it will only be at verizon's website, whereas last year it was at att and apple and they BOTH crashed! lol

Apple's site crashed only when it tried to hook into ATT's servers. If VZW's servers go south the same thing will happen to Apple's site.

If Verizon can't handle this launch they are truly governed by fools. They have four years of experience to look at and a reduced number of people compared to ATT.

The ordering process seems to be purely online at this point, and 3am EST is only midnight for us :)

I remember staying up for the i4 pre-ordering (West coast time). 12am, then 1am, then 2am, then 3am... :) I think the site went up a little after 1am, but wouldn't complete an order...

I completely disagree. I think that people with the same mindset as yours will be very surprised when the numbers are released for just how many people purchased the Verizon iPhone 4.

And I would consider myself to be a "hardcore Apple" fan, but I have never had an iPhone. I refused to switch providers just for the phone, and I know I'm not alone on this. There are plenty of "hardcore" Apple consumers who have done the same thing. I've been using my iPod Touch as the next best thing to hold me over until I finally have the iPhone. Fortunately, that will change two weeks from today.

I am in the exact same boat that you are my friend.

Everyone knows that New York is "The City that never sleeps" :)

(Having lived there a while back, I know that's mostly because the car alarms going off all night don't let you sleep, but hey, that's just a minor detail in the Big Apple.)

I wouldn't expect them to. I don't foresee nearly as many people pre ordering on day 1 as with the launch of the original iPhone 4...this isn't entirely new hardware, it's just the same old stuff on a new carrier. They'll sell a lot, but the day 1 preorder demand won't be as high

I was thinking about doing it, but then decided to wait until the next morning, figuring there's no way itll sell out overnight

It didn't, but it took me all day to finally get my order through. Bad decision on my part
