Does anybody know is this will allow us IPhone users to talk and use internet at the same time?

It's really the only thing I miss from ATT.

Well, they finally announce VoLTE so that's a start, but I'd also wager that new handsets will be needed to accommodate VoLTE.

(Not necessarily required technically, but "we require you to give us more money")

This long article about bandwidth speed and not a single mention about the actual speed.. :(

And not a single comment mentioned actual numbers either. Is this purely a marketing ploy with no substance?

It's already generally known that AT&T data is faster than Verizon. So Verizon getting faster, without more details, means nothing. It could get faster but still be less fast than AT&T.

AT&T is really getting left in the dust.
Or Verizon is just catching up. Or maybe it didn't even quite catch up. The only things we know for sure are that Verizon will be faster than it was, and that what it was was slower than AT&T.

West Lafayette

Here is my speed test from last night on Verizon.

Who cares if, when hitting the theoretical maximum speeds, you'd exhaust your standard data plan in minutes? Up the max amount of data AND the bandwidth and that's something to talk about.

Two things I don't envy from my friends across the pond; Home internet costs and speeds & phone carrier costs and coverage. Monopolies, total lack of competition and bad regulation/laws from crap politicians who are lobbied to keep things slow and expensive.

Isn't XLTE just like EE's 4G supercharged speed thing where they double the bandwidth frequency thus boosting speeds?

That's not important. What's important are all the new acronyms thrown at the consumer at once. It certainly has to be faster. ;)

The difference is that you download the data you are using now faster. It doesn't mean you have to use more data. This also has the benefit of allowing the radio to power back down faster after the download saving battery.

what are you talking about ATT already has both of these technologies. lol

Hold on now. As a AT&T customer I must protest... wait, maybe not.... okay, you are right...

With Verizon get bandwidth and TMob getting pricing. AT&T is not showing any advantage right now. But give a week. The industry is getting exciting again as these companies are really duking it out. The only one that does not see to be scoring any points is Sprint.

I'm in my experience in the state of NH att users typically have much greater speed for data for me that's the spot I want to be in

WOAH MY AREAS GOT IT?!?! Wow nice job Verizon. Now if I had a phone of Verizon that would do something for me :D. But Verizon actually something for us. That surprised me a lot. Anyway I think they should have this on a map so you could see exactly what area has it. City names are just one dot on a map. I want to see the whole area that has XLTE. Now Verizon let's get fios up on my street some time sooner then the 2020 plan you have going right now...

Not likely. From what I've read, it has to be done on Apple's end. Android phones can do it because of either an extra antenna or something called SVDO. I believe Apple would have to add a third antenna or implement this SVDO in a chip or something. Hopefully someone on here can explain it better than I can.
