I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. I just tested it on my LG G2. I turned WiFi completely off, called my other phone and then proceeded to browse the internet during the call on 4G. If you'd like I can take a video for you.

Edit: After doing some research, it appears that this is a limitation on the iPhone and not on the Verizon network. The newer phones on both Verizon and Sprint can do calls + data at the same time.

When you do talk and surf on Verizon isn't it 3G though? Thought there wasn't talk and surf lte at the same time yet. And Verizon doesn't do hspa so it'd be 3G right?

VoLTE

How is Verizon supposed to allow voice over LTE if they cant even allow to have simultaneous Voice+Data use, my fathers company phone shows just the signal bars when not on Wifi.

As I've already pointed out in this thread multiple times, you can in fact have voice + 4G data on Verizon if your device supports it. Your fathers phone must not support it. AKA doesn't have the third antenna in it.

How does one thing relate to the other (and that's ignoring the fact that many of today's and recent Verizon smartphones can do voice and data just fine, it's just that the iPhone isn't one of those phones).

Verizon wireless doing some serious tweaking of their network.

Simultaneous voice+data with current Verizon phones requires the use of two radios (CDMA for voice, LTE for data).

Voice over LTE means everything uses a single LTE radio, just as current AT&T phones do over a single WCDMA 3G radio.

Interesting. According to a Verizon press release:

"Verizon’s VoLTE will also offer video calling options, including making and receiving video calls directly from contact lists. As part of the VoLTE video calling experience, customers have the ability to change their calls instantly from voice-only to voice and video. The rollout also sets the stage for future enhancements through Rich Communications Services (RCS), which enable things like including large file transfer, more robust group messaging, and more location sharing."
