A girl I know got a iPhone 3G about 4 months ago, the at&t salesman told her if she got it with mobile me it would be better than getting a 3GS.

So long as "Accessory Attachment Rates" are a part of the Reps pay, this kind of crap will happen. Better to sell a $99 3G with a $99 Mobile Me sub than a $199 3GS, matter of fact, they get rewarded for it.

I heard some AT&T guy telling a clueless customer that if he updates his iphone 3G thru itunes it will be the same thing as the 3GS.
I wanted to go over and slap him :D

Most cell phone reps are very aggressive about their products. And after several years of hearing customer after customer come in and compare their products to the iPhone, I imagine Verizon reps are getting particularly skilled at ********ting their way around that issue.

I was phone shopping with my brother recently who wanted to look at some Verizon Android phones. I had some real fun with that rep, expertly refuting all his claims about how the Android had a better app store and all that jazz. He was quite fired up about it too. Boy did he sling the well-worn sound bites about Android vs. iPhone, but I cut right through every one of them. Eventually I suggested he not take it so personally and we went on our way. My brother is now a happy iPhone owner. He never was impressed with the droids.
