the very first response says

No way, Verizon dropping calls?
I thought that was impossible.

which right away is showing that user stating that he blames verizon and not the phone, Yes, verizon dropping calls is pretty impossible, never had it happen on any of my phones either, yet it has happened in the same locations with the iphone where with previous phones I was fine

That is what is called a joke. See the smiling face after it?

And it isn't impossible for Verizon to drop calls. My buddies Incredible drops 2-3 calls per month on him

I've been on Verizon about 3 years. My previous phone was a Motorola Razr. I had about 3 dropped calls over the years with my Razr. I've had a ton with the iphone since first getting it. I can only conclude that it's the phone. I still live in the same place and place calls from the same locations. I think the iphone just has a sucky antenna...

This is not only my first iphone, but also my first smart phone. I'm dropping calls like never before. Previous phones have not done this. My last 4 phones have been Motorola flip phones and they were superior phones as far as making calls, to this phone. Verizon says they are working on this problem with their towers. I'm not so sure it's not just the iphone itself.

Hope that there aren't that many fanboys watching. After the whole mess with the CDMA arriving on VZ, this would just be more starter fuel. Even though I use ATT, I hope your experience gets better.

Yup, that certainly proves it...It has to be the phone, even though the antenna hasn't been tested.

the iphone and verizon are nothing to joke about, LOL

My jokes are usually followed by "LOL" because i crack myself up :)

Same Problem as AT&T? We Meet Again

It's not an apple problem. The carrier experience varies on each individual

I have had an open trouble ticket for 2 weeks now. Some dropped calls and intermittent very slow data. Phone gets very warm when this happens. Phone shows 3 to 4 bars and 3G, Tech support has watched it happen on their end, while talking with me on another phone. They told me that there is an issue with some towers/network and the Iphone. A friend with a Droid standing next to me will have 1meg download speed. My iphone will show .02 download. Then boom all is well for sometime. :apple:

iPhone 4 drops calls? What rock have you been hiding under that you just realized this?

i have had my VZW iphone from preorder launch day and have not had a SINGLE issue with the phone or dropped calls

I am 100% satisfied in every way with the phone it is perfect and the network is extremely reliable :D:D:D:D:D

No, it's the flawed external antenna design

How many times must this be discussed?

Sucks for you.

When I had the At&t iPhone 2G, and 3G, I had dropped calls CONSTANTLY!

I switched to Verizon, but I was using a ****** phone (samsung glyde), and that dropped calls also! I knew it had to be the phone, no way was the service going to match At&t.

I got the Verizon iPhone 4, Not 1 single dropped call. I'm in the lower parking levels, no dropped calls. I'm inside buildings, no dropped calls.

I'm even pressing hard on the lower half of the phone (to see if I have that antenagate problem), and with the SGP Neo Hybrid Ex case, NOT ONE DROPPED CALL!

It just went from 5 bars to 4. Not having any problems, and I am ****!N' LOVIN' THIS PHONE!

I did a side by side comparison of my new iPhone and my wife's bb curve (both Verizon) in the same location where only Verizon works. My iPhone was cutting out and even dropping calls while the bb was not... until I put a case on the iPhone and now it seems to work like any other Verizon phone. A phone's primary function is to provide reliable call-making and I think the case may have solved the problem. I know Apple went through this with the AT&T version, but I think the solution with Verizon phones is to slap on a case. If the problem comes back, I'll repost and return my iPhone.

Wanted to repost an update. Since putting a standard case on my Verizon iPhone I have not dropped a single call. It now works like any Verizon phone... i.e. flawlessly. I don't know if it's the same tech issue that happened with the antenna on the AT&T model, but the case works! So in response to the OP, I doubt it's the Verizon towers (which provide unbelievably reliable coverage), but perhaps a problem with needing a case. If that doesn't work, then yeah it might be your phone.

Yup..Has to be an Apple problem, because as we all know, and have heard for months, Verizon doesn't drop calls.

That's right both AT&T and Verizon phones are very poor (and I am NOT bashing Apple) simply relaying my Personal Experience.

The rest of the iPhone is terrific (except for the tiny display) but the phone, in iphone, is woefully inadequate.

Maybe after all these years Apple will include a phone that works properly in iPhone 5.

That would be a HUGE improvement and very welcome.
