Who cares if Verizon is getting the iPhone 4 next month. If its still the outdated phone ATT has you coukdnt give it up me for free. No offense but Android has already caught up. They need to beat the Nexus-S and future dual core phones coming out in couple months. iPhone 5 due out in summer is an eternity away in the tech market.

If a Verizon iPhone is announced at CES I will grab one. If not I will get a Droid X. Been using a prepaid (StraightTalk) for the last month so I'm not locked in to anything until then.

There was a report over on Mashable today that a huge shipment of CDMA iphones were ordered and scheduled to be shipped during the first part of next year. Crossing fingers.

I'm not entirely sure it will be at CES. Apple may do it at their iPad 2 announcement.

Let me start by saying that I have absolutely ZERO inside information about any contract dealings between AT&T, Verizon, and Apple.
But I HAVE been doing this sort of contract negotiation and drafting for over 30 years. And one thing I can tell you without a doubt is that there is STILL the very real possibility that AT&T will throw BOATLOADS of cash at Apple in order to keep exclusivity alive for as long as they can...
I can't remember where I read it now, but I do know that AT&T was making a load of $$ in the US by having the exclusive iPhone rights. So you had better believe that they are prepared to share some of that largesse with Apple in exchange for keeping exclusivity.
I'm not saying that it is going to go down that way. I'm just saying that I have seen this sort of thing happen in the telecommunications industry (and others) far more often than not.
And you can believe that Apple, At&T and Verizon are/have been engaged in a dance over how many boatloads of cash each is willing to fork over to Apple and exactly what the quid pro quo will be for each option, in terms of contract terms, subsidies, network infrastructure, etc.
And no one at the WSJ or anywhere else outside of the players locker rooms will know what the deal actually looks like until well after it's done. There are only a VERY small number of players who are actually privy to the REAL information, even in companies such as AT&T, Verizon, and particularly, Apple.
So...all I am saying is that I won't be surprised whichever way it goes, but also, don't bet the farm based on a newspaper article, even from a source such as the WSJ.

And ma bell has boatloads of cash.

Thanks so much Darth for joining us this month and posting 49 "Android is so far beyond, who cares about the iphone and it's outdated OS" posts on an Apple forum.

Your Honeycomb evangelism will pay off... i'm sure of it! Just keep going!!

Channel 6 ABC news tonight in Philadelphia reported that Apple is now shipping 6 million CDMA iPhones.

6 MILLION!! I'd have to say look for an iPhone on Verizon very shortly.

If the Verizon phone is coming, why would they release one now, and another later? I would want to wait until the second generation to make sure their network is as stable as they claim it to be. There will always be unforseen issues, only time will show us.

How can you have a second generation without a first generation? Verizon's network already has tons of users on it...running stable. Need more proof?

Sorry, maybe I'm missing the point of this post.

Agreed. I'm guessing the previous post is in regards to Apple's typical release cycle being in the summer of each year. If I recall, I heard on one of my netcasts (so I don't have any links to back it up) that Android phones actually use more data than iPhones do. I wouldn't be too surprised by that. I'm just really looking forward to this, and I'm hoping that it isn't going to be a drawn out thing like the original iPhone or the Palm Pre. Although I'd wait a month or two for a LTE iPhone.
