So people are now throwing around the last week of Jan./ first week of feb. As when the phone will launch. But there hasn't even been an announcement for an event, I don't very much think apple is just going to send a press release announcing the iPhone in verizon, jobs is going to want to sell it up a bit, especially since for the past two years verizon users have been told time and time again by verizon how much better android is.

Then there must still be some lead time from the press event, maybe a week in advance, I doubt they will launch same day as announced, they want people to line up over night and allow news reporters to go out and cover the launch.

And then there also needs to he some lead time for press to go the press event, they can't just say "hey, come to Cupertino, we have announcement today", so again maybe a week in advance as well. That means for a late Jan launch, the announcement for the press event needs to come in by the end of next week, and for first week of feb. It would need to come within 2 weeks, and that assuming a very quick turnaround.

I hope that verizon gets the iPhone asap, more att bandwith for me. All the dummies who jump to verizon are going to be pissed when the network is slow as ****

Just think of the 2-6 million iPhone brethren you are about to receive. I am sure numerous of those will join Macrumors. Maybe one day we will out number you AT&T lovers. :D It's all in good fun.

I doubt people on here hate the idea of iPhone going to verizon, because if it means better service quality, then why not jump ship. What they seem to be annoyed with is the endless threads that still provide no official, definitive proof and take up thread space.

Why do you post useless responses?

Anyways, OP, everything you listed are rumors or speculations, not "proof"

My replies are no more useless than these Verizon threads that contain nothing but wishful thinking. Can't wait to get my white Verizon phone.

Oh jeez, the first batch of new macrumors users we got when the first iPhone came out was bad enough and now you say we're going to get MORE morons? Ugh.

Here's my proof the iPhone going to Verizon

Both Verizon and At&t double their ETF and At&t give people who bought the 3GS early upgrades for the iPhone 4, too lock them in an extra year

The turn around can be pretty quick. It's not a new device, just a new carrier.

Seeing as how Apple likes to hold events on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are looking at Jan 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26.

Lots of speculation on January 11th as it would take some of the sail out of the android devices from CES. But I agree they would need to give at least a weeks notice for the press. So, the latter dates seam more realistic.

Looking at your dates I'd say the earliest being 18/19 with invites going out late next week, unless they get the invites out later today for 11/12, if the rumore are true, which personally I still doubt, I still think it won't be until June with iPhone 5, unless they start doing a staggered release (gsm in June, CDMA in jan.)

I don't know if the 18th would work as they are releasing an earnings report on that date.

They could stagger the release dates or be setting Verizon up to sell a 2 models. Like how AT&T is selling the 3GS and the 4, Verizon would be carrying the 4 then the 5.

Well, Verizon just announced a big event in NYC for next week - should be fun.

Thats true, though I wonder how that may affect users on verizon who get the iPhone 4 on launch then a couple months later can't get the iPhone 5, though they're android users now so they may be used to that.

Also interesting will be how verizon handles the yearly upgrade cycle, AT&T has been very good about making launch day buyers eligible for the new iPhone every year, who knows if verizon will allow that since they just got rid of their upgrade program.

And it seems I may be wrong about the launch being in June, since I just they needed to get the invites out by the end of today to announce for the 11th and verizon just sent those out, though it is very odd that it's a verizon event and not apple.

More evidence from Gizmodo...

Link.

In summation:

- Verizon invited some people who they do not normally invite, namely Apple reporters, bloggers etc...

I don't typically get invites directly from Verizon to anything. At least not that I can recall. They usually send those directly to the MobileCrunch and CrunchGear guys. But this invite appears to very specifically be for me - it's non-transferable. Would Verizon send me such an invite unless it was specially about Apple? - MG Siegler of TechCrunch

- The guys at Gizmodo are "friends" with the people at Verizon. They've been invited to every one of Verizon's other events in the past, but not this one.

Here's what's key: We're great friends with Verizon. (Hi guys!) We've worked with them for years, and we've been to like every event they've had over the last three years. We haven't gotten an invite. Which is weird. We've reached out to Verizon to see why, exactly, we weren't invited, but we've gotten no comment yet. (And they're super on their game, so they're usually pretty quick to reply.) The only reason we can think of is that it's an Apple event, and Steve doesn't want us there. You know the story.

I could honestly care less about iPhone on Verizon for a number of reasons.

1. I live in the country and Verizon service is either non existent or very poor. AT&T gives me 3G.

2. Verizon phone plans and data plans do not fit my needs. I get 550m per month and currently have 4000~ rollover mins on my family plan because nobody talks on the phone.

3. My entire family has AT&T, another reason I dont need that many mins.

4. Maybe it will shut up all my friends that have Android who feel their phone is better. Im sick of being told to break my contract for an Evo or Incredible. While they are good phones Im happy with what I have.

5. Maybe I wont have to ever hear about how Android as a collective whole outsells my iPhone.

So as long as AT&T continues to get the iPhone in the future I could care less if Verizon gets it. If it is announced, I really hope its not an exclusive contract.

That is exactly why you do stick with ATT - it is solid where you live. If it were solid where I live I would have an iPhone already, but fact of the matter is that the dropped calls are way too frequently for me, so a CDMA phone is of much better choice for me in making phone calls. Of course, my data rates will suffer.

I never will understand why people post their personal stories like this as if they matter at all.

Your wireless carrier experience is highly localized and unique. No decisions will be based on *you* alone. So, for the love of God please stop the "My service sucks/rocks" - nobody cares.
