Whether you care or not, it will be great once the iPhone comes out on VZW. It is something that has been stirring up the tech world for years and it would be good to put it to bed once and for all.

If it just goes to VWZ. Get ready for the iPhone to Sprint/T-Mobile threads. It'll be fun. :D

What? I was being serious. It will be fun(ny). All the anti-Verizon iPhone crowd becoming the anti-Sprint/T-Mobile crowd saying, "ONLY VERIZON AND AT&T WILL EVER HAVE THE IPHONE!!!!!111" :D
I, for one, would like the iPhone on all four major carriers here in the U.S. Once that happens, the fussing will end. Anyone who posts a thread containing the words "any rumors of iPhone on Cricket?" etc. will be moved to the wasteland.

I have no proof or anything of the sort, so please do NOT ask me to prove myself. I am not posting this as 100% fact- I am simply passing on information from someone I do find reliable. And I was simply told that a Verizon iPhone is a definite for 2011, however, it is not believed to be happening until the next iPhone refresh in the summer. Again, my cousins husband does work for Verizon, and has been correct about many things in the past that he has told me that even reputable tech blogs had not picked up on. And when Verizon began the iPhone-attacking Droid commercials for the original Droid, I was told the exact release date and told the correct specs of the phone. So, to me, this information is most likely accurate, as he has been "in the know" a few times in the past.

Interesting post. I hope you're right. Like you stated, I don't believe we'll see a VZ iPhone until this years WWDC. It'll be huge.

It seems just weeks ago everyone was "Gauranteeing" a VZW iPhone in January. I'm slowly seeing the ferver behind these claims sheepishly fading into the background.

2012 rumors anyone?

That would be amazing if Verizon manufactured a white iPhone before Apple did. Especially seeing as Apple manufactures all iPhones. That would be a huge lawsuit if Verizon ripped of their design.

Did you mean AT&T?

You do realize that even if VZW got a white iPhone it would STILL be manufactured by Apple right? I think you mean AT&T.

(If you were referring to the earlier poster's remarks im sorry)

I have heard 1.11.11 from a friend who works at Verizon as well. It does seem awfully close though, if it were announced this weekend that would give the media only a few days to assemble.

Who knows...

I wouldn't put any faith in any specific date yet...

However I can tell you that Verizon would leave a minimum time window between announcement and release. They're scared to death sales will come to a complete halt during that window so it'll be a tight one.

My friends at Verizon said that these rumors have already slowed sales down a bit, along with the expected announcements at CES. He believes that if the iPhone were not coming Verizon would go on the record to deny its existence. He works at a mall store and they get many people entering the store and asking for it. He also believes the iPad was part of the agreement to get the iPhone as Verizon is not really in the market to sell consumer electronics. They sell a few netbooks but they require a data contract.

Verizon knows anyone who wanted the iPhone bad enough has already moved to AT&T so most people holding out for the iPhone will stick with Verizon regardless if they get it or not. At this point not releasing it would be stupid for Apple.

The only trouble that I have (but am really hoping for) on the release date being any time before the end of January is all of the potential returns of iPhones on the AT&T (and Verizon for that matter) before Christmas. Any exclusivity deal that would have been a negotiated opt out would prevent a mass move over. Since the returns period is 30 days, that is kind of my target of when it will be available. :(

With the recent news about Verizon dropping their "New with two" promotion giving customers a discount at the point of sale when upgrading at 2 years I'm starting to think that it is highly possible that the iPhone is coming in a few months. There is no way apple would allow Verizon to give customers a discount on their product so they decided to scrap the whole program. Things are somewhat starting to add up.

Boy, the trolls are coming out of the woodwork, aren't they.

I haven't seen any trolls in this thread...

Unless you believe people speculating on a forum that has the word "rumors" in its domain name is trolling. Maybe you should see if the operators would like to change the name to "macfacts.com" and allow only discussion of concrete evidence.

isnt this the same thing when talking about the verizon lte android phones at CES? if you are that into getting the new phones you would have waited for that or you will return your android phone you bough before christmas after seeing these. why does it matter if people take phones back if they are going to get another anyway? sales a sale

I find it somewhat disconcerting that we haven't heard a peep from Forbes, WSJ or New York Times in quite a while. All the reports of 5-6 million CMDA iPhones on order, being shipped etc. Now it is simply people grasping at straws.

I keep waiting for the morning I wake up and log onto macrumors to find a huge headline "Verizon iPhone confirmed, January 25th" or something to that effect.

These are tenous times for sure...;)
