I pay $25/line taxes included on Verizon's sub Visible. If you are mostly around WiFi (only time I am not is in the car), I see no reason to pay their full rates.
Many people rely on carrier financing and/or trade-in specials when buying their new phones.
You folks in the US sure get screwed. My plan in Rome, Italy is €19,99/month with unlimited data, voice, and messaging. 5G download speed approaches 1000 Mbps.
Italy is about the size of New Mexico. Not saying we don’t get screwed to some extent, but it’s an apples-to-oranges comparison.
 
The wireless carriers are complete and total crooks. It's like a new version of $2 a minute for long distance back when I was a kid. It's just a giant profit center with no pushback from the Govt. Pretty much, pay it, or don't get it. Choice? 2 companies. MAYBE.
 
Tried Visible 3 times over the past 4 years.... most recently was last summer. I still can't get any usable service where I'm at and when I could, ping was high (usually 130ms+) and speeds were slow (no more than 3 Mbps). Visible users are low priority unlike actual Verizon customers.
Oh I tried Visible a couple weeks ago, it was a NIGHTMARE. I switched to it from Mint Mobile because they let you add an Apple Watch plan and they don't have as strict data limits as Mint. I signed up and bought an Apple Watch plan. They were never able to get that activated. Then at one point my SMS messages stopped working. Then my phone calls stopped working (whenever I called I got a message that I had "calling restrictions"). Then my data stopped working and that was the last straw.

I switched to T-Mobile's "Essential Savings" plan for $50 a month with a $10 Apple Watch plan. No complaints so far.
 
The new plans are pure turds. No wonder Verizon continues to bleed customers. They can't expect this to stop the bleeding.

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and couldn’t be happier.

Verizon
2 lines w/Unlimited Data
Apple Music
Disney Bundle
$150 (pre-tax and with auto pay discount)

T-Mobile
3 Lines on Magenta
Netflix
$120 (3rd line was free and we put my mom on it) (tax and fees included & w/autopay discount)

If I moved back to Verizon now, it would be
$165 ($55 per line) plus $10 for Apple Music family putting us well over what we pay with T-Mobile.

Even if we needed Disney and Apple back, the family plan for Apple and Disney wouldn’t get us to Verizon’s rates - we just did Apple One.

And that’s BEFORE these new plans where we’d have to pay $10 for Apple Music Family and another $10 for Disney Bundle.

And shockingly, T-Mobile has a better network with Verizon in the Indianapolis/Central Indiana area in my testing. I ran dual sim for a month and in almost every situation, T-Mobile matched or surpassed Verizon, unless I was on MMWave Verizon, which was limited to a few blocks downtown.
I've been very tempted to move to T-Mobile a few times over the past few years, but their track record with data breaches doesn't give me confidence. I was with them up until the iPhone 5 came out and then moved to Verizon. Yes, I know any company can have a data breach and likely most of our information is "already out there" but still the amount they have had over the past few years is eye raising.

My single line AT&T post-paid bill is $50 a month before taxes and fees.
 
These companies are criminal. Just went to their site to try and figure it out, and after a few minutes of reading through the material - and all the drop down small print - I gave up.

A phone plan should not be hard. Set price ($45 or even $65 per line) then lay out the add-one easily and plainly. $10 hotspot - put to 100 gb. 10$ entertainment. $10 flight WiFi - or whatever.

I know that’s what they’re trying to do, but man, I can’t figure this out - and it changes with the number of phones and then they have premade plans for “special values”.

I know, I know. Use Visible. But reading their fine print, they seem to keep prices cheaper simply because they are MORE cavalier with your data than even Verizon is.

I sell cheeseburgers. I used to sell them for $10 each, all ingredients and condiments included.

Then I realized that I was cheating the customers and making them pay for what they did not want.

To let my customers choose their own perks and pay only for what they want, I decided to unbundle the thing.

Now I sell each burger for the reduced price of only $8, and only $5 for each ingredient or condiment.

So adding cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mustard, ketchup, and salt, each burger comes to only $48 each.

My customers feel like they hold the power and get a good deal, and I am now a multi millionaire.

Genius! Only $8 for the core burger and I can then exercise consumer choice to build my own burger. WOW! Best deal ever!

Run some creative ads with a splash of funny & whimsy and some others of seemingly smart people being very excited about this incredible deal.

Then report quarter after quarter of "record revenue & profit" and pile up a golden parachute for retirement like this one for former CEO of AT&T

Wait, how did my burger end up at $48 again? That seems high. What's that you say? Inflation? Supply Chain? Well, I just absolutely must have a burger, so if they cost $48 now, I'll just pay $48 for them. I feel no particular value for my money. Must have burgers!

NGL, headline got me excited, then I look at per line cost and all excitement eroded. VZW today isn't like it was 1-2 decades ago, or rather, the competition is right there next to them. They keep demanding a premium for a no longer premium service. Oh well, nothing changes for me still lol.
 
These plans are ass. They aren't any cheaper, you are just losing the perks. Whoever designed these plans should be fired but then again with Hans at the helm I am not surprised.
Gotta get their plans set up before next launch. Verizon will make everyone sign up or switch to their newest plan to get any phone incentives.
 
3 lines and watch. T-Mobile Magenta Max Military $125 with auto pay. Verizon can’t come close to that. I left them 7 months ago and not looking back. Verizon just nickel and dimes you for EVERYTHING! They even hit me with a $25 early pay off fee for a phone just for the privilege to buy it out and leave. Taxes and fees constantly changing monthly. I just had enough of their over priced ********!
 
The only reason they come out with a “new” plan is so they can try and get more of your money. Seems like my cell phone plan just keeps going up and up. I may just consider moving to a local lower cost company.
 
Wait until you see what Canadians pay off promotional periods.
$45 6 GB and that's the government mandated plan.
Higher plans include $65 25 GB, $85 50 GB, and $95 100 GB, these plans were just rolled out last month due to the Rogers/Shaw merger.
During promotional periods like this Mother's Day, all the tier 2 carriers offered $39 20 GB, and that's considered a great plan in Canada.
 
I wonder if this is true of Xfinity Mobile, since they use Verizon’s network as well. Does anyone here use Xfinity Mobile?

I have T-Mobile and when it’s good, it’s quite good, but I’m underwhelmed with the reception sometimes. I’ll find myself with one bar or no service while a friend with AT&T has much better reception.
Used to subscribe to Xfinity Mobile, here in New England. The service and data plans were relatively good. Then last year, it changed the plans and rates. The per Gig plans are overpriced. The rate plans became expensive. Customer service was acceptable.
Changed over to Mint Mobile for $15/m for 5Gb/month with unlimited talk/text using T-Mobile's network and it's pretty good and get some decent coverage including 5G sometimes (depends on where one lives as more rural areas barely get 5G but it's slowly expanding). You do get some decent wifi coverage in many places.
Verizon has the most expensive plans then ATT then T-Mobile, at least in the Northeast.
For people with a single line, forget the major cellular carriers. Stick with the MVNOs and you'll save money and get some decent plans, with the caveat being on where you live.
 
Of course... Just like any unbundling of services, at first each perk appears cheaper, therefore you subscribe... but then they eventually increase the price of each and you're now spending more than you ever have.

Biggest cons of all. They learned this from the networks unbundling and transforming into streaming services that when all added up are more than ever before.
This is exactly why I’m not changing my plan. I’ll be paying more in the end if I did.
