Unfortunately I still can’t come up with a justification for getting AirPods Max. As much as the design is growing on me I don’t think there’s a killer feature that convinces me that I need these compared to the other high-end headphones I already own.

Two of words - disposable income. If you have a lot of money then spend. Obviously there are more charitable things you could do with disposable income.

There lots of headphones that cost more than $550... check these out. But headphones in this range are expected to last forever they usually have replaceable cords and pads. At $550 Apple is borderlining audiophile.
I’d hope AirPods Max compares favorably to audiophile headphones in this price range. If I had to guess, objectively it should punch above its weight. Sound quality is the only reason to release a product like this.

As much as I’d like to spend, spend, spend, especially on Apple products, $549 is a lot of money for a product I don’t need. I’m not even particularly a fan of noise canceling headphones.

I actually don’t have a issue with the price. I mean, look at Bose, Sennheiser, Klipsch, those are all in the $550 range or above. More than anything, I’m really looking forward to hearing (Pun intended) the feedback from others if the price tag is justified. I know the styling is subjective with these, but to me, I want to know what the sound quality and other features are like compared to the competition.

I’m right there with you. Nearly every pair of noise canceling headphones I have tried have given me a pounding headache. I‘m glad to know I’m not the only one.

I get the appeal for noise canceling headphones, especially in a noisy apartment. Personally I hate the sensation, and prefer to be able to hear my surroundings.

This sounds promising...

Watching a movie with spatial audio is an experience. According to Apple, spatial audio kicks in when you listen to movies or other video encoded with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, or Dolby Atmos. It’s uncanny and very clever when wearing AirPods Pro earbuds; with AirPods Max, it’s absolutely immersive, like something from an attraction at Disney World. Watching an action movie, it’s downright visceral. Get into a movie or show with compatible audio (Disney+’s The Mandalorian is good — it’s a fun show, period, and has great sound design) and you will forget you’re wearing headphones. It really does sound like you’re in a room equipped with theater-quality surround sound speakers. Spatial audio is rich and immersive and crystal clear. Effects and dialog sound like they’re coming from fixed spots around you, not just with direction but with depth. It’s less like wearing headphones and more like wearing an augmented reality audio headset.

these high end headphones make sense if apple offers a losless audio format on their own music streaming plattform. alac or flac. the actual aac format is lossy and the most important thing the actual streaming from apple music is narrowed in the dynamic range.

Exactly. I’m not sure why people only talked about music. This headphone is for both music AND movie. One of the kind. No headphone has given you that.

This is the most who gives a crap product that I have seen Apple release since the iPod Hifi. My Bose Quiet Comfort 35s are great, and comparatively cheap.

I'm a little burned out on Apple products and the pricing. In the past two years, they've had considerable missteps with quality, primarily due to a rush to get products out. I was all set to get the 12 ProMax and the AW6 but I decided to hold off until they sort out the issues with iOS 14.

Apple shouldn't be shipping product to Verizon if they don't have inventory for themselves.

Why are people buying up these expensive headphones? Wouldn’t it be good to wait for some reviews?
I was going to wait for reviews but then I said, I can always return it in 14 days if I don't like it. And if I order late, I can get a 2 month shipping date.

An impressive product (judging by the You Tube tech channels) but it's that so called case that would stop me buying them. Looks like it was designed as a very late afterthought. It offers no protection to an expensive product. I expect Apple will come out with an additional case to put the smartcase into

I have problems with warm ears/head when I wear over ear headphones. Would be nice to know how these are concerning that... 🤔
