Apple often pushes the envelope when it comes to over pricing things. I think this one takes the cake😄

Why? Why is that exactly?

Compared to these they are very expensive. Compared to these they are very cheap. So please tell me why the AirPods Max is overpriced?

(I don't want to be quirky, I am really curious)

Cool, the cellular model.

But seriously, what if these morph into having AR five years down the road? You can fit a lot of powerful tech into something this size. I kinda feel like Apple is doing this mainly to get good at designing and developing things that you wear on your head. As they add more functionality, people will be more willing to pay for it. I just can’t shake the feeling that this is the start of a long play.

This sounds promising...

Watching a movie with spatial audio is an experience. According to Apple, spatial audio kicks in when you listen to movies or other video encoded with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, or Dolby Atmos. It’s uncanny and very clever when wearing AirPods Pro earbuds; with AirPods Max, it’s absolutely immersive, like something from an attraction at Disney World. Watching an action movie, it’s downright visceral. Get into a movie or show with compatible audio (Disney+’s The Mandalorian is good — it’s a fun show, period, and has great sound design) and you will forget you’re wearing headphones. It really does sound like you’re in a room equipped with theater-quality surround sound speakers. Spatial audio is rich and immersive and crystal clear. Effects and dialog sound like they’re coming from fixed spots around you, not just with direction but with depth. It’s less like wearing headphones and more like wearing an augmented reality audio headset.

I have the AirPods Pro and have seen some content with Spatial Audio. It's magic! It sounds awesome! :)

The AirPods group wanted to take the prize from the Mac Pro Wheels team, but I think the wheels still take 1st prize at the company pricing awards competition.

I guess so. I’m just wondering how do people know these are better than similarly priced headphones from companies that have been in the high-end headphone business for much longer. I know Apple bought Beats, but they’re still new to this market.
Apple's AirPods business is worth more than the entirety of Sony. That alone should give you confidence that these will be fit for purpose. The R&D budget Apple has is ridiculous compared to it's competitors and Apple now have a track record with good sound. That's not even taking in to account the Beats business of which they will have picked up lots of experience and expertise. If they don't perform like a pair of $550 headphone, you can return them!

It's like the M1 chip. You could say that they are 'new' to the chip business but really they have been making them for years in iPhones and iPads which is why they've just come out of the gates and beat all of the competition. Apple have been in the headphone game for a while now, audio is not a new thing to them.

They were up for hours since no one ever checked the site for them I ordered a silver pair hrs before they mentioned them on here lol

Apple shouldn't be shipping product to Verizon if they don't have inventory for themselves.
It's just good business practice that Apple provides an allotment of product to its authorized vendors. It helps their business and strengthens relations between Apple and its partners. Also good for consumers as it gives them more purchasing options. I regularly buy my phones from Verizon, because it's often easier to acquire through them on launch day then it is through Apple.

What on earth is your basis for this statement? You do realize Sony is one of the world's largest consumer and professional electronics company? Have you heard of that little product called the Playstation?

I feel that, but personally I prefer to support the manufacture over a reseller. The exception is smaller business that take a lot of time to curate solutions. Buying from Verizon acts to reward them for existing.

bought 2...like the reviews, look cool, can’t wait for them...sucks have to wait till March...lol they are selling out like PS5! lol

My ship date was 1/08 when I ordered them last week. However I received an email today that there was a problem processing my payment (how?) and that if I don't call them my order will be canceled in seven days. I've been on hold for an hour now waiting to speak to someone. Something tells me they sold more than they had in stock and are trying to get out of these orders.

Update: I finally managed to get through to someone. They had the wrong credit card number on file. Maybe this was the number generated by Apple Pay and the authorization had expired by the time they tried to charge it a week later? I'm back on track to get it 1/08. Be vigilant.

Update 2: My shipping date got moved up and they arrived today. Surprise!
