It is Midnight PST and I was not able to activate my iPhone 5 on my line. So it does look like a full 24 hours must be waited.

Thanks for update. Sucks we have to wait. What is the point?!
 
I'm so glad I found this thread, I thought the fact that it wasn't activating was the unlimited data on my plan because as said earlier, the lady in customer support said after 1 calendar day, something about aging process on sim card. But I will wait until tonite then and try again.

I was able to activate my phone by 7am. Didn't have to wait full 24 hrs! Only about 16hrs. I was able to switch devices online, on my trusty iPad :rolleyes: :D
 
I just cut down a micro-SIM. Funny part is when the rep said that I couldn't do that and it wouldn't work.
Store employees are sales reps, not customer service reps. 30 seconds on Google and you know more than they do about a device.

Never listen to what store reps say. More often than not they are either incompetent or uneducated.

Phone reps tend to be much more knowledgeable (and friendly, for that matter).

Yes my the stupid sales rep at the store knew nothing.
 
IPhone came fed ex today. Called customer service and she gave me the whole thing about the 24 hours so the phone people do it too. She took the phone info and said we will all set in 24 hours. Is there a way around this bc I have another upgrade thurs and have to do it again.

Yes, I was able to activate my phone now, but I am having a problem making phone calls or doing the #228 to update the settings and activation.

Don't worry. Had to restart my phone twice. Didn't work for half hr.
 
there is no wait time. That is total ********.

THe problem is if you use someone elses upgrade and the phone came under their line the sim card is connected to them. That sim card no is useless. So you need to get a new sim card.

First activate the iphone under whichever line u used.
2. activate a different phone on the line whose upgrade u used.
3. go get a new sim card (apple stores had them)
4. call 611 and say u want to activate ur phone.

I got the same ******** from a csr on the phone and i told her she was useful and that she should learn her freaking product better, i used to work for verizon and know that all this is just BS since the verizon system is going veryyy slow right now.
 
It Worked

So I decided not to listen to the Verizon people and I did what a lot of people on here said. I just went onto Verizon wireless and activated on there. It's all set. Not wait time or anything. I hadn't given her my SIM card number so that may have been why. It wasn't attached to any line yet.
 
Yeah I was able to activate my phone a few hours ago. Everything is good to go! No new sim card needed here.

how did you activate? I tried the 1877 phone number and it transfer me to cust service, tried online and it says I might have to change plan

I feel your pain, same boat, I called yesterday, they said it would happen automatically when I turn phone on in 24 hrs
the 24 hrs have been the longest of my life, I feel like jack bauer (fox show)
 
ok,I did it. I used the online activate feature. it says I keep unlimited web and email data, I think is same as unlimited data. hopefully my plan didnt change.
