With every phone being a hotspot, who uses hotspot devices any more? I'm surprised these are still around, let alone going up in flames...

If it were maintainable by the user, you could just replace the battery. But now like this, it is e-waste.

I have one of these devices because last year I was living part time Glendale, CA for 8 months doing some work. I was an ATT customer, but ATT didn’t work in my apartment. I bought one of these devices as a “temporary” Internet device to just use when I was in my apartment. Anyway, I’m currently not using it but figured I’d get a replacement, in case I ever have a “need” for 4G Internet (again), LOL

Anyway, this is the part that would annoy me if I was still currently relying on this device. Here’s the message I got when I filled out their replacement form:

Thank you for registering!

You will receive a return kit with instructions for the return of your Ellipsis Jetpack within 6-8 weeks. Upon receipt of your Ellipsis Jetpack, a replacement device will be shipped to you, free of charge.

If you have questions, please call (855) 205-2627.

I’ll tell you what, if I currently relied on this device I would be pissed off that it was going to take them up to 2 months to send me an empty box to mail it back, since I’m supposed to discontinue use of the device. At that point I still wouldn’t be able to use the device as I still would have to wait for them to receive my defective device. I would still not be able to use my device as I would then still have to wait an unknown amount of time to receive the replacement. One other slight annoyance is they have my contact info, yet I had to read about this on Macrumors.

A better option would be. 1) Exchange it at the store. 2) Send me a replacement battery.

Anyway, I’m exchanging it just because. I’m mainly just curious how long it actually takes. The device is garbage.
