$70 per month (Sprint, unlimited). I got unlimited because I was one of the first ones to signup for the plan. One year later they stopped offering unlimited.

How can virgin offer unlimited over Sprint network for $40. That does not make sense.
It actually does. Sprint > Virgin.
Sprint roams when no service(Verizon anyone?). Virgin does not.

People, if any of you are thinking about "upgrading" to MiFi, don't get yourself stuck in a 2-year contract with Verizon or Sprint or T-Mobile. Instead, use Virgin Broadband Mobile, which offers the EXACT SAME MiFi hardware... but with NO CONTRACT and NO MONTHLY FEES. Just pay as you go for unlimited Internet. And they use the Sprint network, which is completely reliable almost everywhere in America.

Scotty321…THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I was about to get a MiFi for a road trip where we'd have a MBP, 2 iPads, four iPhone 4s and an iPod touch but didn't want to commit to a contract. This is perfect!

Not a bad commercial at all. In my mind, I see it as showing how the Verizon network isn't congested at all and wide open for Apple traffic.

I agree... Verizon does put a little thought in their commercials and spends a little money on their production.

I see Verizons' commercial on iPad as a life without walls and Windows and Apple and the iPad is not "walled in" as one might think!

Let's hope that V's network doesn't get congested and is wide open for Apple traffic, otherwise what will the AT&T bashers do?

And while speaking of AT&T bashers and to ALL the snide, snarky commenters that like to express, "at least it's not on AT&T"... Jeez, you got problems, we've heard you, over and over and over and over and over and over again... write to Steve, because no one here has the power to fix. However, being a first timer and brand new to AT&T, as an AT&T user, don't even pretend to speak for me, my iPad with AT&T service is just fine. Unlike you, I have no complaints and am quite satisfied with AT&T service! I hope one day you too can enjoy the benefit of the same customer satisfaction with what ever carrier you profess as being the best for your area and for your needs with whatever Apple product you use on it, that I am currently enjoying with AT&T right now. I really do!

I have been using Virgin Mobile's Broadband2go Mifi 2200 card with my iPads. They use the Sprint 3G network. Cost is $40 per month no contract. I used it last in September while RV traveling. I probably won't use it again until March or may do the $10 for 10 day option over Christmas when traveling. The $40 per month deal is for unlimited data. You can have up to 5 devices on it at a time. When traveling we carry a MacBook Pro, two iPads and an iPhone. I've been pleased with the coverage and performance so far.

Ouch! Not the future I was thinking when I first saw the ipad

You have four Virgin Mobile USA service plans from which to choose:

100MB of data for $10 (which expires in 10 days)
250MB for $20 (expires in 30 days)
600MB for $40 (expires in 30 days)
1GB for $60 (expires in 30 days)

How can virgin offer unlimited over Sprint network for $40. That does not make sense. I checked their website and its correct. They do offer it. Wow. I'm thinking of now switching.

The question is if i switch to Virgin will my bandwidth be reduced? I have a hard time believing that Sprint will provide fast bandwidth for Virgin to complete against their broadband service!

Since Virgin is month to month, open an account, try it out before you ditch the sprint $70 account. There has to be SOME catch out there. It would make no sense for Sprint to offer Virgin the same bandwidth & download amounts for $30/month less than they offer their customers. But stranger things have happened....

I don't know where you got that information but Virgin Mobile USA clearly states:

100MB of data for $10 (which expires in 10 days)
Unlimited data for $40 (expires in 1 month)

Hey kiljoy…where did you see that at? I'm contemplating it but not at those prices. On the virginmobileusa.com website it only showed two plans. $10 for 100MB and $40 for unlimited.

This is actually pretty smart. A way to point out that the only thing wrong with the iPad is AT&T.

So for the iPhone you would just need to change a few words and you would have your ad campaign.

Introducing iPhone on Verizon. All the magic of iPhone. All the nationwide power and reliability of Verizon.

And the ad seems very Apple like to me.

It most definitely does not. The building I work in is a mobile deadspot, except for the Verizon who installed repeaters to every floor. Sprint users are stuck with their ears to the windows trying to keep calls from dropping.

Hello Verizon iPhone, it's just a matter of time. BTW has anyone noticed that this is the first time a TV ad is being made for an Apple product by another company? I thought that Apple wouldn't even let AT&T make ads for Apple products and now we have Apple letting Verizon Wireless, of all companies, make an ad for their beloved iPad. And just a month or two ago, some members of this forum were talking about how Steve Jobs hates Verizon's guts and would never do business with them. Oh how the tides change.

My friend tried the Virgin offering, which operates on the Sprint network. He said the performance was not as good as using Sprint service. Lower speed and higher latency.

I suspect the Virgin offering has different (lower) QoS parameters than Sprint's direct offering. In essence, you get what you pay for. Virgin's offering may be best for casual/occasional users.

so you have to have a thingy in your pocket for you iPad to be happy to see you?

Clear

Don't forget the Clear Spots. They have a few with the iSpot being only $25 a month for unlimited 4G. Obviously, you have to be in a 4G area or then you have to get the Clear Spot 4G+ with 3G fail-over.

iSpot - $25 a month unlimited 4G
Clear Spot 4G - $45 a month unlimited 4G
Clear Spot 4G+ - $55 a month unlimited 4G and 5GB of 3G.

The bottom two can be leased versus owned which is nice. The term fees on la leased device are up to $40 depending on how long you have had the device/service.

I don’t think I need Internet everywhere on my iPad (since I have an iPhone) but this is a VERY tempting package. I wasn’t really interested in the 3G iPad, but a WiFi iPad plus the Verizon gizmo sounds very goos. IT would also serve my Air AND, should I be in an AT&T dead spot, my iPhone. And friends I’m out with who have their laptops (seems to happen more and more).

And then in future, when I feel like trading up to a newer iPad, it can continue to be the cheaper Wi-Fi only models.

I have no complaints about AT&T coverage (thankfully) but this Verizon deal is good for price/flexibility.

Don't talk about something you don't know about

They may not roam there because they are repeaters...
Wow, Verizon fanboy?

Thanks. Then I'm not switching. I'll stay with my unlimited Sprint data plan.
I dont want to risk losing my bandwidth and not be able to play WOW and StarCraft as well as not be able to watch hulu.com and scifi.com and among others things that I do at night. ;). Yes, all on my MiFi :D

Now if only the iPhone would come to Verizon as it has been hotly discussed for around two years now.

The great irony is that the direct sunlight will make the ipad harder to read.

I tried out an iPad and a mifi and found the data service to be slower than AT&T's 3G (assuming you are in an area that has a strong consistent signal from both carriers.)
I did the same and had the same results. iPad with Virgin Mobile Mi-Fi. Data was not as reliable as built-in iPad 3G or my laptops 3G built-in card with AT&T.

That sounds like the Verizon pricing.

When I tried the Virgin Mobile prepaid broadband it was $60 / month for 5 GB, they dropped it to $40 right after I canceled. Then I saw that Verizon had a pre-pay option. When I saw the pricing I quickly lost interest.

I have an iPad 3G and you can't beat the convenience of having the 3G built in. One thin little device to carry around. Instant on and instant network access. The battery lasts for a week without recharging. One battery to worry about. Built-in GPS.

I think the only people that will want this are the ones who can't get a good AT&T signal. AT&T works fine for me.

What the F*(&(&**.

I have MiFI with Sprint, 2 year contract, and its unlimited, paying 70 per month.
Virgin offers the same device MiFi over Sprint network, no contract and its also unlimited, for $40 dollars per month.

I'm paying twice what Sprint is offering and with contract.

I'm definitely switching to Virgin!!!

good luck with that, Just because Virgin uses sprints network does not mean it will be as good. remember you get what you pay for.

trust me i have been a Virgin customer
