They got a whole 3 sales from this. Why would you want to carry another device, pay more for less, and not get gps?
Aaargh, more iPad "magic" nonsense.
any realize that once VERIZON starts carrying the iPhone in Jan, and Sprint in June 2011 that it will easily double or triple the number of iPhones in use, leaving Android in the
People, if any of you are thinking about "upgrading" to MiFi, don't get yourself stuck in a 2-year contract with Verizon or Sprint or T-Mobile. Instead, use Virgin Broadband Mobile, which offers the EXACT SAME MiFi hardware... but with NO CONTRACT and NO MONTHLY FEES. Just pay as you go for unlimited Internet. And they use the Sprint network, which is completely reliable almost everywhere in America.
hardly.
I will give them credit that they made it clear that it is NOT a Verizon ipad. but another device. So many of my friends were all "the iphone must be like any day now after all they have their own ipad". Way to pay attention folks
If anything, this could raise some doubts about a verizon iphone. there's no contract on the ipad so apple is free to make a true Verizon version. It's the same OS so adjusting for Verizon for the ipad would make it easier when a phone comes along. And the ipad has much more space to accommodate more than one antenna chip. So why didn't they make an actual Verizon ipad. THe only thing stopping them seems to be desire to deal with CDMA etc
I agree... Verizon does put a little thought in their commercials and spends a little money on their production.
I see Verizons' commercial on iPad as a life without walls and Windows and Apple and the iPad is not "walled in" as one might think!
Let's hope that V's network doesn't get congested and is wide open for Apple traffic, otherwise what will the AT&T bashers do?
And while speaking of AT&T bashers and to ALL the snide, snarky commenters that like to express, "at least it's not on AT&T"... Jeez, you got problems, we've heard you, over and over and over and over and over and over again... write to Steve, because no one here has the power to fix. However, being a first timer and brand new to AT&T, as an AT&T user, don't even pretend to speak for me, my iPad with AT&T service is just fine. Unlike you, I have no complaints and am quite satisfied with AT&T service! I hope one day you too can enjoy the benefit of the same customer satisfaction with what ever carrier you profess as being the best for your area and for your needs with whatever Apple product you use on it, that I am currently enjoying with AT&T right now. I really do!

Don't bet the farm or your soul on those dates. Particularly the Sprint on. THey are using Wimax not LTE like the rest so it is very possible there will not be a Sprint phone for a long while, if ever
Does VZ hope to bamboozle people into thinking the iPad now has built-in VZ 3G with that kind of phrasing. "Now on Verizon"?? How is this any different than pairing iPad with a Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G, other than the insinuation that VZ's ad department seems to have better lawyers than Sprint's?
For that matter, you could pair it with one of Clear's 4G hotspots, or your Droid Incredible, or the HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint. And, by the way, for those with commitment issues, those last two options don't require another contract or an extra device -you just add the mobile broadband tethering/hotspot option to your existing cell plan. The best part: it's not exclusive to your iPad. $15/month for a paltry 250MB of AT&T 3G (or $25 for a crippled 2GB cap) that only your iPad can use, or $29/month for 5GB of 3G (or unlimited 4G) that any device with WiFi can use. With all the options availble for connecting an iPad to mobile broadband, you'd have to be a fool to settle for built-in AT&T that only serves the iPad itself.
And I know what you're thinking... I don't really need more than 250MB of mobile data. Keep an eye out for the first Facetime-capable iPad. Assuming Cap'n Cupertino doesn't enforce the usual (laughable) WiFi-only restriction there too, that $15 AT&T a la carte option ain't gonna cut the mustard.
And so the verizon iPhone bubble just burst once again. Ouch, so true and loud though. The verizon people just don't get it, there will be no iPhone on verizon period! It would be nice if verizon did ever get the iPhone, competition is great for consumers, but I don't see it happening since verizon pissed Steve Jobs off from the get go ( and he never forgets anything )
and you know he's just laughing his a@@ off all the way to the bank!!!

If u go to a verizon store, you will see a fully set up stand just for the ipad. Its over guys, att's stranglehold over the iphone is over and we will be seeing a verizon iphone in the next few months.
Does anyone own apple stock? Im just wondering if anyone has any research on it that i can read
Not a bad commercial at all. In my mind, I see it as showing how the Verizon network isn't congested at all and wide open for Apple traffic.

What is he laughing about? If anything, Apple's failure to sign Verizon on to the iPhone early may turn out to be Apple's biggest mistake of the last 15 years. The only reason anyone talks about "Android vs. iPhone" is precisely because of Apple's decision to go exclusive to AT&T when AT&T only made up about 20% of the wireless market.
Apple's approach to entering the wireless market practically begged for an upstart competitor to challenge them, which is unfortunate for Apple because it has easily dispatched its three legacy competitors, Blackberry, Motorola, and Windows Mobile-based smartphones.
Even if exclusivity was a necessary evil at the time, it has now become the iPhone's biggest flaw. If it doesn't fall in 2011, then Apple will never have a chance to reclaim the marketshare that it has already forfeited to Android and will inevitably begint to concede to Windows Phone 7.
2011 is a make-or-break year for the iPhone. After they dispatch the exclusivity problem, they better get to work seriously updating iOS. Last year they brought some worthwhile but necessary hardware improvements, but the interface hasn't really changed since the iPhone was first released, and now Blackberry, Android, and Windows Phone all have noticeably superior user experiences.

Nope.thousands of iphone sales just in the US every day make me wonder if Apple is actually worried about that lost marketshare. Also remember that rising too high in the ranks could lead to legal issues. THe last thing Apple is going to want is being told they have to port iOS to other hardware due to Antitrust rules, for example
Also, even if the contract ends this coming year it doesn't equal going to Verizon. Apple could stay on GSM only, forsaking even LTE right now, and just make appropriate adjustments for T-Mobile.
Nope.
The fact that Android phones outnumber the iPhone is enough to prevent most potential legal issues.
What's new is that you can use that same MiFi to tether your laptop, phone, kid's DS, etc. in addition to the iPad at a fairly good monthly rate.I'm actually shocked to see how naive the public can be & how persuading advertising really is. This commercial is supposed to be introducing this whole new era of the iPad with Verizon when in reality, nothing has changed!! All they're doing is killing 2 birds with one stone by selling you their existing MiFi unit (which does work pretty well I must say) along with an iPad WiFi. Naturally, they can't sell you the iPad 3G + WiFi because of the AT&T exclusivity. This truly is the dumbest campaign ever, especially since you could already purchase this 'Verizon iPad' by buying a Mifi then buying an iPad Wifi from Apple.
