Hello from Europe. Writing this from my 300mbit fibre optics line for $24/mo (no data caps).
We have unlimited LTE (no data caps) for $45/mo and I find this expensive.

My friend from Romania enjoys 1000mbit fibre optics line for $12/mo.

$35 for 2GB?? Totally ridiculous. You guys are getting milked hard over there.

It is criminal. I blame it on Reagan and his cultists. You live in a dystopic socialist hell, don't you know? We, on the other hand, have privatized prisons, and they are VERY full!

Higher prices for Verizon customers while other carriers are lowering prices. This is fantastic!

Damn, you are really getting screwed in the US.
My provider in Denmark: https://www.telmore.dk/mobil#

Every plan has 4G and unlimited sms/mms:

Talk Data
11 h 22 GB = $17.7
22 h 11 GB = $17.7
Unlimited 10 GB = $20.68
10 h 20 GB = $20.68 (Telmore Musik incl. It's like Spotify and it don't deduct your data)
15 h 20 GB = $22.16 (1 GB data when traveling in EU countries)

Since I've been a loyal costumer for +10 years, my plan is 4G, free SMS/MMS, 15 h talk and 40 GB data for $14.73.

And writing this from my 50/50 MB fiber for $37.

Sure, and gas here in the U.S. is about $2.50 a gallon. So, what is your point again? Price's are local for a variety of reasons. The "screwing" is all relative.

Seriously does Verizon and AT&T copy everything T-Mobile does?? Unreal!!!

Not even a good copy. T-mo.... data rolls for 12 months, not 1. Music and video doesn't count against data usage for almost every service out there.... I have banked 18GB of data, and I only get 3 per month because of the free music/video streaming. (And no.... you can't tell it's dvd 420P video quality on a small screen.... )

And if I did use all my data, they dont charge me for teh 2G speeds I get unlimited for free but have never once needed.

T-Mobile does the exact same thing once you hit the data limit, if you're not on an unlimited plan. You get slowed down to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the month.

Yeah, but they don't charge you for it.... and they let you roll data for 12 months.... and... um, they give more data on all tiers than Verizon or ATT, and don't count music and video against that data, so you almost use no data out of your bank.

They still offer an unlimited plan, but I don't know why anyone would even need it on t-mo.

It's not an apple to apples comparison at all. Oh, and they are cheaper and dont hide the hidden cost of a "per device access fee" on top of the advertised rate.

Your claim about Americans travelling "more" miles is nothing more than an idle claim - Europeans travel a lot.

Here are some REAL percentages -
# of U.S. Passport holders = 38 per cent.
# of UK Passport holders = 75 per cent.
# of Canadian Passport holders = 60 per cent.

His point was that Americans don't need a passport to travel thousands of miles.

They can go from New York to Hawaii to Guam, from Alaska to Florida to Puerto Rico, all without one.

Just chiming in to say that here in Europe, I pay 7 euros for 2 GB 4G ($3 per GB after 2GB) , ultd text and 500 minutes :)

A veritable take a trip and never leave the farm - nothing there about countries - you and he are just talking about the US, absolutely nothing formidable about that and cellphone plans.

I love how they make a big deal that every level has at least 30% more data, but fail to mention that the cost of every level is increasing as well. Not by 30%, but if you're at a level where you aren't going over your cap, then they are charging you more for extra capacity that you won't use.

Apple charges high prices and is insanely profitable and people around here cheer when it's reported.

Another company charges high prices with a lot smaller margin...and they get booed out of the room.

That's because this website isn't VerizonRumors.com. I'm not condoning it by any means (the opposite, in fact), but still...

T-Mobile for my entire family once out contract is done. Best unlimited services.
Won't T-Mobile buy out your remaining contract (or pay your ETF) if you switch now?

Aren't these morons losing customers to companies like Tmobile? I was going to switch to Verizon from ATT when either the Note 7 or IPhone 7 came out, but now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I'm used to getting gouged with ATT, but they've actually been pretty decent with prices the last couple of years. Verizon seems like they really gouge their customers.

It could be worse, here in Canada $35 (CAD) gets you 200 daytime minutes and NO DATA. An Extra $12 for Voicemail, unlimited text messages and visual voicemail. Add $40 a month for 1 GB of Data. $87 just to get the above basics and it only goes up from there. I am not making any of this up. These are real numbers from www.bell.ca.

Edit: so above was for a basic plan, they also offer "share" plans.

$75 gets you Unlimited local calling, 500MB of data (the MB is not a typo), Unlimited Texting, call display, voicemail, free wifi at participating stores (you are going to need it with your 500MB of included data) and then for an additional $50 you can add a second phone to this plan WITHOUT INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF DATA. $125 gets you two phones that share 500MB (again that is megabytes) of data. And the $50 is assuming you brought your own off contract phone. Its $85 and $60 respectively with them subsidizing the phone.

The good news is you can save money by bundling it with TV, Internet and home phone. Get this, you will literally save $3 per month by bundling. $3 whole dollars. truly unbelievable.

Safety mode is free with the XL and XXL modes? WTF that is backwards, the people that need it are the ones being screwed for 2-4 GB of data and can't afford the crazy fees if they go 1 mb over and get charge 15 bucks for another gig... Awesome job looking out for the little guys Verizon!.... Bastards!! These cell phone companies need some series regulation!

I have tmobile, i say join the party, they have customer service who are willing to help, they dont throttle anything, music/video donesnt count towards data, tmobile tuesday app actually works giving out free or discounted promo codes, just check your coverage area i live in washington DC so i always have coverage

If Americans needed a passport to get to the next state like Europeans do, they would surely have more passports. But we can go from frozen tundra to tropical Puerto Rico without ever pulling out more than a drivers license.

Because you didn't follow the whole thread to see the logical chain of connections, doesn't mean there wasn't one.

Simple economics. You can charge what people will pay. Vz has good coverage and charges more. T-Mo's coverage is decent and getting better, but is not as good and they charge less. The US is a much larger country compared to European countries and Americans want nationwide coverage, so it costs a fair amount more. Nothing crazy going on here. I've been to Honolulu, Anchorage, Orlando, Seattle, NY, and LA, and experienced great LTE on T-Mo. You can't expect that and pay what the Europeans pay.

Already switched. Never going back. Verizon has tried very hard to screw me over in as many ways as possible. The last draw was them treating my fully purchased 6S as an upgrade instead a replacement, effectively ridding my plan of my unlimited data that I've had for the last decade and refusing to fix the mistake.
Wow. That stinks. How do you like T-Mobile reception
