I saw the Verizon shared data plan due June 28th ...was going to wait until the fall and go for the Iphone 5, but changed my mind because of the changes Verizon is making and I went with the 4S to keep my current unlimited data plan, and to retire the failing android device I had for the last two years.

I'm confused

Did you guys really expect Verizon to bend over and let you actually save a good amount of money per month?

From what I understand verizon views 3g and 4g as different data plans. So once shared data is out you won't be able to make the jump from 3g unl to 4g unl

I wonder what the minimum data will be for them to allow access to BES mail apps (GOOD for Enterprise). Currently it is 5Gb on the line requesting it, which is not an option in the new plan and is a total racket. Vz is the only carrier that has/had such a minimum data requirement.

I also believe Vz is the first to allow "free" hot spots, unless I'm wrong.

Current Plan : 5 Smart Phones,700 minutes, unlimited texting unlimited data $267 per month including tax : Shared Plan Unlimited Calling,Texting and 2G data shared between 5 phones..... $260 + Tax. Talk about a screw job.......

But... you're saving 7 whole dollars!

Currently pay $238 per month
  • 1400 nationwide share plan (last month we used 27 minutes)
  • Unlimited text
  • 2 iPhone's ($60 per month in data)
  • 3 dumb phones ($29.97 per month in data)

With the new plan, two others would probably get smartphones so:
$160+$80 (6GB to share)=$240.
Included in that is the hotspot feature.

Works for me, but I can see how others are getting screwed.

Um... I think you have to jump to the unlimited minutes and text plan to get the shared data plan. That dollar jump will be much higher!

Right thats the $80 for unlimited text, minutes and 6GB.

With the new plan, you have:
2 iPhones ($40 x 2) + 3 basic phones ($30 x 3) + 6GB data ($80). Add that all up, and I get $80+$90+$80 = $250

It's only $12 more per month than your old plan, but it's still more.

Whoops, forgot about the dumb phones. I hate the new plans too

They are making people pay out of their nose for stuff we don't care about, i.e. talk time and SMS.

I can see how maybe this is a good deal for people that use a ton of talk time, but other than that everyone gets screwed. I bet ATT is grinning ear to ear too. Can't wait to see how badly they will screw the customers.

Current Plan
  • Voice (700 minutes) = $90/month
  • Messaging (Unlimited) = $30/month
  • Data (2 iPhone 4 with unlimited & 1 iPhone 4S with 2GB) = $90/month
  • Basic phone (no internet) = $0/month
Total: $210/month

Share Everything Plan
  • 3 smartphones x $40 = $120/month
  • 1 Basic phone = $30/month
  • 4GB shared data + unlimited talk & text = $70/month
Total: $220

uhh...WHAT

For me:
Current plan:
  • Voice (1400 minutes) = $100
  • Messaging (unlimited) = $30
  • 2 iPhone = $60
  • 1 Basic phone = $10
Grand total = 200

I am planning on upgrading the basic phone to the iPhone 5 so 3 iPhones = $90 so final grand total after October = 220

New plan:
  • 3 iPhone = $120
  • 4 GB + unlimted talk and text = $70
Grand total = $190

the difference comes out to be around 30 dollars per month for me plus hotspot for my iPad.

so...yeah...I think that share everything plan is not meant for you if you do have one or more dumb phones.

I currently have an unlimited plan + IP4 and I was going to wait until IP5 comes out to upgrade but now I'm not sure. Since I am eligible for an upgrade, I'm thinking of using it to get an IP4S for subsidized pricing and then selling it for extra cash towards an unsubsidized IP5 (when it comes out). Anyone else in the same boat as me? Will I be able to use unlimited 4G LTE coming from an unlimited 3G plan if I purchase the phone myself?

I guess I better start saving up my dollars so I can buy the next phone at full retail...I have unlimited data for $26 and unlimited talk and text for $70. I only have the one phone and I don't ever plan to change my plan!!! unless of course they force me to and if that is the case, I will hold on to the ip4 for a lil longer. I don't see the benefit as a single person, to switch plans...especially my plan!

If you are switching from a 3G phone with unlimited data to a 4g phone you will be pushed into either shared or tiered data plan.

No with Verizon you're locked in on 4G as well when you buy at full retail. LTE Isn't that much better anyway

Uh first, no. Your unlimited plan via 3G won't apply once you upgrade to a 4G device. You'll be forced into a different plan even if you buy the handset at full price. They will force it or just not provision you for LTE.

As for your second comment.....LOL.

Not true if you buy your lte iphone 5 at full price.
