True, I wonder if they will build up LTE as fast as Verizon or if they will do something like Tmobile where they want to max out 3G speeds up to 21MB?

personally att should just call it 4g once they get to a certain speed. i mean it will be faster than Verizons 4g and it would give a huge advantage in tower areas and save a lot of money to expand and improve the network.

I would take this with a grain of salt. I doubt he'd know even if there was an iPhone for verizon. None the less, does anyone at AT&T actually know what the next iPhone will be like? It's like steve said yesterday, "let us worry about the phone part and you handle the network part of things"

Yes, but they are complaining that Tmobile is calling their fast 3G as 4G tech:D

If the VP of Verizon wont know who would then?

A.) Who knows what he means by "immediate future"? It could mean by the end of the summer for all we know and I doubt anybody expected it before then anyway.

B.) They're not going to tell you months in advance that they're going to get the iPhone because they want to sell phones between now and then. Nobody wants to fall victim to the Osborne Effect.

This. Glad someone has some sense in here. :)

Why would they say the iPhone is coming out on Verizon in the future when they still want people to buy the phones they have out right now? Granted not everyone on Verizon wants an iPhone but I'd imagine enough of them do to curb sales of the higher end smartphones Verizon has in stock right now.

By saying that there is no Verizon iPhone in the works, people will just go to the next best thing instead of waiting... which in turn makes Verizon money in the meantime.

At any rate, I never thought I'd see the day when people started flaming each other based on what cell phone provider people prefer to use (they all pretty much rip you off IMO) but I guess people have to feel superior somehow on these boards. *shrug*

Not to be rude but there are some dense people who posted in this thread. Verizon has stated that there is no iPhone in the immediate future. Yet people want to insist that it can be.

Why? I would think someone in the capacity of VP at verizon wireless would know. Now it's pretty desperate to sit around and attempt to say that the "Immediate Future" could mean flag day or Halloween.

At this point jesus christ could come to earth for the second coming and tell people that there is no Verizon iphone and yet people would still insist there was.

Give it up already. There is not one coming anytime soon

These would be the same guys who defined “late summer” for MMS as June.

Or these guys.

Similar to how people sit around and think of what the next iPhone will have or when the next Macbook Pro will be released?

Hmmm...

Smartphone sales would come to a screetching halt had the spokesmodel announced an end of year Ver-iPhone.

That's different because there is always a refresh of those products. But there is not been any thing really confirming a iphone on verizon. People tend to grasp at rumors or "Secret Sources" like a moth to a flame.

We have been hearing rumors of a Verizon iphone for the last 3 Years. And the same rumors. And has anything happened yet? Yet the same rumors return and return and nothing happens.

I can't tell someone what to do. But i live in the real world of facts not speculation and raindances

Hey, don’t start bringing the “real world” into this. ;)

I don't disagree. Putting a lot of stock in rumors is bound to lead to a huge let down -- just look at the last three year -- but people will continue to do it anyway.

I think the bigger thing here is the fact that so many people are looking forward to this. It seems awfully telling about how people feel about their AT&T service. It's not so much a failure of AT&T to anticipate the load that iPhone was going to bring -- honestly who saw that coming?!?!? -- but more of a need to spread the wealth a little. If Verizon and any other carrier for that matter would get the iPhone, people both on AT&T and other carriers would be much happier because the network load would get balanced and people could choose the carrier best suited for them. Novel idea, isn't it? ;)

And for how many years did we hear about Apple putting out a phone and tablet before they actually did?

Because SJ has always wanted a tablet and there was actual proof that one was going to be developed eventually.

I have seen no proof of a Verizon iphone. But with the Tablet that was something that SJ has mentioned before. Can't say the same about the VZW iphone.

Sounds about right to me actually. Verizon's growth has been strong quarter after quarter without the iPhone, their churn low, and their customer service and satisfaction scores some of the highest in the industry. If it's not broke, why fix it? AT&T's new data plans along with higher ETFs will keep people from joining AT&T when their contracts are up. Verizon doesn't need Apple to be successful, and I'm sure they'd have Apple but they'd invite them over on Verizon's terms. In other words it won't be a system where they defer to Apple on technical issues, replacements, etc like it is with AT&T.

The 32.8% marketshare the iPhone holds would say otherwise. (Android has 6.2%)

The iphone has had a few year to become a better phone over all. People may talk **** on the iphone because the "droid" is "better". Its all just a personal preference in the end.

Found this on the net thought I would share

Actually verizon's churn was higher than AT&T's

Verizon Wireless’ retail postpaid churn was 1.07 percent. Total customer churn for Verizon Wireless was 1.40 percent. AT&T’s postpaid churn was 1.07 percent and total churn was 1.30 percent.

And Sure AT&T has raised their EFT but you forget that Verizon has done the same thing and Verizon's ETF is actually 20 dollars higher. And has that hurt people from coming to Verizon? No it hasnt so why would stop people from coming to AT&T. Especially if it's 20 dollars less.

Your logic is fuzzy
