Because SJ has always wanted a tablet and there was actual proof that one was going to be developed eventually.

I have seen no proof of a Verizon iphone. But with the Tablet that was something that SJ has mentioned before. Can't say the same about the VZW iphone.

No there was not any proof. It was all speculation and rumors. And it was the same thing every year. 'Tablet/Phone this year.'

either way, i still think Verizon won't get the iPhone till 2012

A.) Who knows what he means by "immediate future"? It could mean by the end of the summer for all we know and I doubt anybody expected it before then anyway.

B.) They're not going to tell you months in advance that they're going to get the iPhone because they want to sell phones between now and then. Nobody wants to fall victim to the Osborne Effect.

my friend, the iPhone was announced by Cingular/AT&T and Apple almost a year before it's release

Yeah, but I'm betting this won't happen for other carriers because Apple won't allow it simply to keep from harming current device sales.

But I also don't think it will be like the launch of the 3G and 3Gs where it was available within a few weeks. There will most likely be some lag before availability....but not a year.

I'm still saying we won't hear anything Monday. We'd be EXTREMELY lucky if it happened this fall. And yes, I admit, 2012 is a big possibility due to the exclusivity agreement.

But those that say NEVER are just being trolls.

Edit: the back and forth positive rumor followed by a negative rumor is getting very annoying.

This is typical CEO nonsense no one will spill the beans before a big expo i mean if Verizon said last month Verizon is getting the iPhone and at WWDC Steve said its coming out in November look at all the people that are holding of that could have been customers between when they said yeah were getting a iPhone till WWDC thats probably a few million customers they could have gotten that month its just common sense and I think at all things D Steve sounded frustrated with ATT when being asked about the network problems.

maybe?

if you watched the video he did not really answer the question on the iPhone. he just immediately went to promoting the phones already on the verizon network. he didnt say no he just said not today!

Kind of ironic when you think about it. Verizon customers really want the iPhone but can't get it, while AT&T customers want a real Android device, but no luck yet. :D

Ha, yeah that is true.

Too bad no one used a silver bullet.......

....and a stake through my Verizon heart. So why did he say "IMMEDIATE" future instead of just future?
