Everyone tier allows for a discount (with some higher priced plans getting an even bigger discount):

"Customers who choose plans with data allowances of 8 GB or below can add a smartphone for $30, a savings of $10, and customers who choose plans with data allowances of 10 GB and above can add a smartphone for $15, a savings of $25."

This is from Verizon's own press/news release about this at http://www.verizonwireless.com/news/article/2014/04/more-everything-savings-coming.html

Thank you for pointing that out. The Cnet article said nothing about the 10GB and higher discount, in fact, it actually said "plans under 8GB".

Yeah. Seems like going to 10 GB for various people would be even cheaper than having 8 GB, or perhaps even 6 GB if not even just 4 GB (depending on how many phones there are on the account and how many are out of contract).

No contract. No problem. Verizon Wireless is giving customers the ability to add a smartphone that is not currently under contract to a MORE Everything plan, beginning April 17.

Good Job Verizon but I am already with ATT now. I was thinking about coming back to Verizon when I first read it..then I realized it stop just an inch shy of ATTs offering- It doesnt allow an in contract customer to opt into the new pricing like ATT did - but a good 2nd step...

Enjoy this Verizon customers....they are coming down:D:D:D Again this is a great second step for Verizon

I believe at least some existing customers can go on the Edge program and take advantage of all of this. This announcement is kind of unrelated to that as it's specific to lines/phones that aren't in contract, while the other parts like discounts for Edge and so forth were already established a little earlier.

Anyone trying to get this today?

I tried to do it online but ended up calling in to get it done. Seems like it's a discount that gets applied to the month to month lines. Certainly doesn't seem like a bad thing at all--I even ended up going up to 10 GB of data as that gives a larger $25/month/line discount and ends up being a better deal for a few lines than even 4 GB of data (which only provides a $10/month/line discount).

I thought you were coming back to verizon after that whole hacking debacle.

Did you bring your own devices, or were your contracts up? I know my mom's basic phone is way out of contract, and my dad's 4S should be soon. If I could help them save some money on our $250/month bill, they'd probably like that.

I just had 2 phones that were already on month to month on the plan (along with 2 other ones that are still on contract) and just asked to apply the discount that applies to each one of the phones on month to month, which is what they did.

That said, I don't know if or how this works for basic/feature phones or anything aside form smartphones basically given that only smartphones are mentioned in the news release about this.

Hmm okay. Well maybe my dad can get it on his 4S and my 5 in January. That is unless I decide to get the 6.

Let's hope this offer is still around then. As for basic/feature phones, I'd say it's worth calling in and finding out about it. It's strange that they would give a discount to a smartphone but not a basic/feature phone which would actually use way less data and thus would be cheaper for them to provide for essentially.

Everyone knows not to change the plan or upgrade a line without checking with me first lol. Literally never letting it go.

Surely you understand that Verizon can terminate your unlimited data service at any time? There is no law or provision that says that Verizon (or any other carrier) must provide a specific service indefinitely...

The Verizon winback team offered me the BYOD plan $100 -22% + $15 x3 lines plus $300 to come back from AT&T - my bill ended up $2 bucks cheaper with Verizon than AT&T because my corporate discount is higher

I normally don't answer 800 unknown calls but Im glad I did

Couldn't resist when my fraud issue on AT&T showed up again on my second bill- Corp Escalations wanted me to pay one month of service until I kindly reminded them about my promised credits.
