Yeah I love having unlimited Disney plus, Hulu and ESPN...which Verizon has been doing everything in their power to get me to switch.

I have an entire text conversation where they try to convince me to move to even more expensive plans because they were more valuable...when I kept giving them a cost break down of how it wasn't...they kept going in circles.

american plans are completely insane. i pay $12 USD / mo for unlimited minutes, texts, and social media browsing + 3.5GB data in mexico, with full coverage throughout north america. i can’t imagine paying $100/mo.

The US is geographically relatively big compared to most other countries, with multiple mountain ranges, oceans and Canada separating parts of us, that the investment in cell towers/equipment and fiber infrastructure is massive and has to be paid for somehow. Our population density - other than the major cities - is quite low on a global scale, but we want - and the cell providers attempt to provide - coverage everywhere. The costs add up for Verizon and others.

Mexicans also earns less than ave. American. There are many reasons for this. Technology, marketing, advertising & purchasing power

This corporations are shameless in their 2008 bandwidth speeds and limits and crazy pricing.

We really need some competition some how.

Cellular bandwidth (aka spectrum) is a finite resource. Owned by the government and leased by the US carriers.

Even if clean water was 100% free, it would still cost more to service a home using 1 million gallons per month vs a home using 10,000 gallons.

Unlimited Ultimate customers ...
The next innovation will be the Ultra Unlimited Ultimate plan.

Then the Ultra Unlimited Ultimate Universal plan.

Then the United Ultra Unlimited Ultimate Universal plans.

...

Who pays? I suppose people unlike you that aren't grandfathered in some old plan from some old defunct company who at the time took advantage of an unrealistic deal that can't be had today. That's who. ;)

One thing I dislike about these topics is everyone comes out from the woodwork to gloat about their 10 year old plan at prices that no one can get today and think everyone is dumb for not getting as good a deal today.

Silly. There are MANY providers that will blow away that Verizon plan today.

Honestly, those grandfather plants don’t seem as good as people say it is honestly, I’m glad for the updated plans. It’s saving me money while giving me more features. People are just using them for bragging rights and no one is impressed

Alot depends on your use case. If you don’t use the extra features, you just wind up spending more for no added value. It’s not about bragging, but how you use your phone and the number of lines. Sure, it would be nice tio get the extra bundles streaming services, but with 4 phones the higher costs of the extra lines would triple my bill and more than what I pay now for the phones and streaming. So for me, it’s not worth it but YMMV.

There a a lot of MVNOs that charge less and operate on, or are owned by, the major players; of course you don’t get ‘free’ phones or other ‘perks,’ but may be a better choice depending on your needs.

In addition, you can roam the entire US and never worry about added costs, or even move to a new location and keep your old number and not pay more; and call anywhere in the US without added costs.

The EU, for example, is roughly equivalent in size and has a free roaming policy, but has fair use limits that if you exceed them you can be chared for the use above that limit. If you move outside of your home location, after a few months your provider can start charging for use. If you call another EU country, you can be charged as well. If you live near a border and your phone connects to another county’s tower and you do not connect to a home country tower that day, you are considered roaming and subject to the roaming rules.

Neither is per se better, just different and a result of how markets evolved.

Granted my experience is largely limited to the Yucatan, I found coverage in Mexico ok not great. While in the USA with Verizon I am rarely in any place where I get no coverage anymore even in very rural areas.

I had this when I traveled internationally. it was handy, because no need to mess with an esim or local sim. now I'm not on the road as much, so I went back to a cheaper plan. looking at something like Visible to save even more

Verizon today announced new features for its Unlimited Ultimate plan, which is the company's highest-tier plan at the current time.

verizon.jpg

Unlimited Ultimate customers now have access to 200GB of premium Hotspot data, which downgrades to 6Mb/s after that. Verizon is also offering unlimited data in more than 210 countries and destinations around the world, plus customers can choose one of 140 countries to get up to 300 minutes of calling from the US per month.

High-speed data worldwide is capped at 15GB per month, and after that, speeds are limited to 1.5Mb/s.

Verizon's Unlimited Ultimate plan is $100 per month, but it drops to $90 per month with Auto Pay enabled. It offers 5G UWB data, up to 4K video streaming, 50 percent off data plans for a watch and tablet, and talk, text, and unlimited data in Mexico and Canada.

The plan also supports adding streaming features like Hulu, Netflix, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, and Max for an additional monthly fee.

Verizon's other unlimited plans include Plus for $90 per month, and Welcome at $75 per month, with $10/month discounts available for Auto Pay.

90 USD for only 200GB high speed data is robbing. in china 200GB data plan is only 30 yuan per month

I feel attacked! :D

That said, honestly the bundled Apple Music is the only reason I’m still with Verizon. That and they get better reception at my office than T-Mobile does, at least according to my coworkers.

If those weren’t factors, I’d have dumped Verizon ages ago. They even dropped the $10 autopay discount to $5 on grandfathered in plans. Annoying.
I hate that they did that. I could only keep the $10 autopay discount instead of $5 if I changed to one of their newer plans. I still have a $10 legacy customer discount in addition to the $5 autopay discount, which is helping to offset my bill some.
