I'll stick with my $35 a month unlimited data Visible plan which uses the same Verizon network as.. Verizon.

Kind of criminal the price Verizon charges for their "name brand" service.

I really wish the verizon perks allowed for ad free tier streaming packages. If someone has figured this out, let me know!

Which plan is that? Because I just recently moved my family over to a new plan that is better than our old grandfathered plan, and slightly cheaper.
From what I have gathered in talking to Verizon agent last week there were discounts that expired on our account. The agent said she would try resubmitting a request for new loyalty discounts and they would send me an email in 4-5 days if the discount would be applied. Today is day 6 and I still haven’t received an email.

MVNOs can’t offer better deals because they lease capacity from the same networks that have no reason to undercut themselves

MVNOs do undercut the big 3 for basic services - text, voice and data. You don’t get the extra perks but if all you want is service tehy can be a lot cheaper.

f you think you are getting the same level and benefits on Visible for $22.5 vs Ultimate Unlimited you are delusional. You need to be on either Visible+ or Visible+ Pro to get comparable feature set and those are more than $22.5 a month for sure. Add the cost of a "free" iPhone and perhaps one of the perks like Apple Music Family, and for sure you are not coming ahead that much with your $22.5 a month Visible service.

If you don’t care about the perks and ‘free’ phones you can get the same basic services for that price. For many people, unlimited ata is necessary as they may never get anywhere near one of the capped levels; and even then many services run just fine at the lower data speeds. For example, when I travel internatioanlly I get a small amount of high speed data on my US based plan. After I hit that, What’s App and FaceTime work just fine at the slower speeds. I can’t stream a movie but then again if I want that I simply buy a local esim.

If you're using more than 50GB per month on your phone away from your home/work where you have WiFi, you need to ask yourself if you have addiction issues.
Not so sure about that. Video streaming can eat it up fast alone.

I got Visible $35/mo unlimited data, unlimited hotspot and Apple Watch included.

Just get that, or another prepaid, and a data eSIM when traveling abroad.

Who pays? I suppose people unlike you that aren't grandfathered in some old plan from some old defunct company who at the time took advantage of an unrealistic deal that can't be had today. That's who. ;)

One thing I dislike about these topics is everyone comes out from the woodwork to gloat about their 10 year old plan at prices that no one can get today and think everyone is dumb for not getting as good a deal today.
ATT prepay $300 a year (you have to pay for the full year up front). Just signed up last year. 16gb of data per month. Same ATT network.
Came from VZW paying $90 a month

I understand that it takes a good amount of time and effort to compare and asses what carrier and plan will make the most sense. Making a blanket statement that $22.5 gets you the same as $90 is a bit too far fetched.

EXACTLY! People do not understand that while MVNo's do indeed lease their lines, say, from Verizon, they don't lease "ALL" of them. Just some. They couldn't afford to charge the lower prices if they did lease all. It's just a matter of what MVNO leases what towers around what area that works best for you. But you do not get the FULL tower coverage that you would get from the 3 major tower owners which are AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.

Honestly, those grandfather plants don’t seem as good as people say it is honestly, I’m glad for the updated plans. It’s saving me money while giving me more features. People are just using them for bragging rights and no one is impressed
The Get More (if you use the perks) is a better and cheaper plan for most people. So "bragging" isn't really the case. makes 0 sense for me to switch to these "newer" plans that I would pay more for to get less than I currently get.

The prices in North America for internet and mobile services are astoundingly high compared to Asia and Europe. I relocated for a three year assignment and the cost os about ⅓ of what I was paying Verizon in the US for equivalent service and that accounts for the Verizon perks that came with the plan.

Streaming music or maps apps on cellular with eat data quickly.
This. When I was commuting 2 hours a day only plans that made sense were unlimited. I kept it because also only way to get certain features like HD video streaming on the go.

Well, besides many dead zones in our city, Verizon has been good to us all these years. In addition to these substantial upgrades, they also just gave us $10 off per line for the next 12 mos, so we are effectively paying $45/mo for Ultimate and $35/mo for the middle tier. And just $10/mo for unlimited tablet data, which is helpful in my job.

I gotcha. I'm sorry to hear that.

I'll tell you my situation in hopes it helps yours. We were on a plan from the late 2010's called The New Verizon Unlimited plan. It was back when they reintroduced unlimited data after having dropped it years prior (I'm beginning to feel old)! The payment structure for that plan, and maybe all of Verizon's older plans, was a base price for the plan, then an additional $30 per line attached to that plan. Something close to that.

Verizon's new plans aren't structured that way. You simply pay a set price for each line, instead of paying a base price for the plan and then additional for each line. And each line can have a different plan. You can mix and match. HOWEVER, as you add more lines, the price for each line goes down. It was my understanding that if you had something like 6 or more people on a plan, then the math worked out so that it would be cheaper for us to keep the old plan. In our case, we had less people than that, so we ended up saving money by switching all of our lines over to one of the new plans. And we got more a little more hot spot data than before, so that's a bonus. All of our lines are on the middle tier plan, named Unlimited Plus.

I was able to do all of this through the account manager on the website. I never had to talk to somebody. Maybe you could take a peek on your account yourself and look at the numbers. Maybe you can move some things around and save yourself some money. Usually you cam move some things around and it'll tell you the potential new monthly price vs current monthly price before hitting submit, so you can see them side by side. Again, I don't know what plan you're on currently so maybe not. Anyway, I hope that was helpful.

Edit - One small word of caution. Sometimes changing plans requires you to pay off the remaining balance on devices that you still currently owe on, if any (we didn't have any that we were making payments on at the time of switching).

I will never understand how people need anywhere close to that much data each month. I use ~1GB-2GB and I've been going on more apps without being on wifi in recent months compared to how I was before.
I travel a lot for work and I dont like hotel WiFi. With streaming videos in my hotel room to navigation or sending in documents back to the office I can use 100GB+ a month just on my phone plus add in whatever my iPad uses as well and it can add up fast.
