I checked through the last few pages and didn't see anything, but my apologies if I missed it. Did anyone else get a random change in upgrade eligibility from Verizon? I renewed my contract in the middle of September last year and got a DX. I then moved to the iPhone 4 on release day in February when it came out. That shouldn't have put me up for an upgrade until around May of 2012, right? Is this just an error that's going to get removed or should I just say nothing about it and get myself the iPhone 4s or 5 or whatever when it's announced?

Could be an error. You should print it as is and use that as fodder in-store if they reverse it back to "normal." Make them change it to what was displayed lol

I checked mine and it's still December 2012. I bought the VZW iPhone a few months late.

Yeah, I already have the email saved and printed as well as the MyVerizon page that shows me as eligible for an upgrade. There was no calling or anything like that. I woke just after 1 PM today, checked my email and boom, Verizon wants my money. I have another line on my account, a MiFi that still shows it's not upgrade eligible.

I wish I could wake up after 1:00pm... :p

That's definitely good news as mine hasn't changed yet, and I was wondering how Verizon would treat the next iPhone release. As we've seen, AT&T usually allows you to upgrade every 12 months if you spend >$99/month I believe.

I spend more than that but Verizon still shows an upgrade eligibility date of October 2012. As it stands now the only option to upgrade to the next iPhone is to pay the no commitment prices ($650/$750)

Isn't it strange that it would be cheaper to pay the termination fee with Verizon and sign up as a new customer with AT&T?

Yup. Right before the Bionic came out my upgrade date moved from March 2012 to to eligible for upgrade at 2 year price. I was like WTF. I was going to have a NE2 $100 discount if I wait until March so I think they are just trying to get me to upgrade now so that discount goes away and can't be used.

I called, $20 and I can get the 2 year price or I can steal the upgrade off another number on my account :D If its good enough..I may just get one.

That's something I was wondering. My husband never upgrades his phone, because he rarely carries or uses it; he has his calls forwarded to the Blackberry his company provides. If I am not eligible for an upgrade, but he is, will they let me use his upgrade on my line? Mine is the primary line, if that matters.

Yes, if you go to verizonwireless.com you can actually switch the upgrades between numbers.

Thanks! It's good to know I'll be able to upgrade sooner than 10/12 if I want to.

Mine is still listed at 05/2012. My wife called to get something corrected on our account years ago and somehow they switched the primary number from mine to hers. She is not eligible until 12/2012. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Here are some pictures to show you how...

First picture(BIG), click on "Get Upgrade Status"

Then as you can see in the second picture(SMALL) one phone was eligible in July and has a $50 credit that I can transfer to my number if I want to.

I do believe you have to be the "main" number on the account to do this.

Seems I cant get pictures to show in order when uploading to mr...

Still there today. Looks like I may have just lucked out and been randomly chosen by Verizon as someone to entice to stay on.

I guess the question is now: If I take this upgrade when the 4S/5, whatever, comes out, do I lose my unlimited data?

I'm getting the same thing on my line, only I had the Samsung Fascinate and have had it over a year, I guess it worked out in my case, as I should be getting a iPhone in the near future.

My upgrade date was also changed from May 2012 to now. It happened a few weeks ago. I am the only phone on the plan if that makes any sort of difference. I was all ready to suffer through another 8 months of my blackberry but now I don't have to.

The strange thing is that when I called Verizon, although my upgrade date is set as October 2012 the representative asked which phone I was interested in. She started telling me there was some flexibility, but once she heard it was the iPhone she said that was an exception.

With AT&T it's the opposite. Many who are not due for an upgrade are having their dates changed. Even others who are only 6 months into their contract are eligible for an 'early upgrade', offering reduced pricing only if they upgrade to the iPhone.

I wonder how many are in my situation where they live in a large city well covered by both carriers. If it's $150 cheaper for me to pay the termination fee and join AT&T, the clear choice will be to leave Verizon.

They definitely need to rethink their strategy before October 4th.

It's not a family plan account. It has my iPhone and a MiFi on the account, that's it.

Hell, I'm perfectly content to let well enough be and just enjoy my early upgrade. I'm just continuing the discussion because I'm on a discussion forum. Someone asked, I answered, maybe this will see if there is correlation on what qualifies you or not, who knows.
