I'm sorry, but when have I started a thread complaining about it? My family pays $92/mo. for 2 iPhones on unlimited talk+text and more than enough data. Not exactly paying through the nose now is it?

Get your facts straight before lecturing someone else and watch out when you get off of that high horse. That first step is a doozy.

What's even worse is the fee applies even if you pay in full for the phone. I smell a class action lawsuit coming down the pike in a few years.

This is the ridiculous, money grab movement of this change. Why do I have to pay an extra $20 fee to buy a full priced phone from you?

While I'm a long-time VZW customer and generally a fan, you've obviously never lived/worked in a basement or old brick and mortar building.

Which just as obviously has zero to do with whichever carrier might be in the conversation, it's not particular to VZW. RF energy doesn't penetrate the ground, and doesn't penetrate rebar. In other news, water is still wet.

Think of it as a financing charge. It clearly states customer provided equipment will incur no fee. Just go to the Apple Store and buy whatever unlocked version of the iPhone you want, and swap the Verizon SIM into it yourself. That's it.

Pay full price at Apple Store. Pop Verizon SIM in. No upgrade fee!

It's funny when these "installment" programs started 2-3 years ago. All the major carriers claim offered no upgrade "fees" to pay full price in installments. And many on these message boards liked it. Saying its a zero percent interest financing.

Now slowly and surely (att with their $15 att next fee). Carriers are just padding their pocket books. Sure they will continue to advertiser "0" down and "0" interest for as long as they can.

Pretty soon, $15/20 will become $40. U can bank on that.

Yeah, more and more gimmicks to make them money. Thank you T-Mobile for messing everything up!

I've noticed that I can get a better deal with a 2 yr contract than financing.

I hate Verizon too (AT&T customer). But I find it rich that you guys complain about them trying to make more money....then happily fork over money to Apple when they do things like low ball entry level RAM to squeeze an extra $100 out of customers to get a usable amount of memory.

But since they make the toys people like...

Yepper!!! This is what I will do from now on!!

Im confused. So even if you buy your phone outright you still have to pay an activation fee to have them put service on your new phone??
