Dumb question, is it eating up your data plan?

Initially, but VZW has claimed that it will be deducted and will not count against data allowances:
Advanced Calling 1.0 service is available at no additional charge.

HD Voice is included in existing plans. HD Voice calls are billed as standard voice calls according to your plan. No data charges apply.

What a load of crap how it doesn't work on the 5s...

According to Verizon, it does: List of Compatible Phones

I am just being patient for now. Verizon is still selling the 5s even with these new models, it makes it hard to believe that they will continue to sell any phone now that cannot be updated to volte in the future.

My guess is that they will use the iPhone 6 users to test their new network, and at some point they will turn on the 5s (and other older phones if possible) once the bugs are mostly worked out.

Great find! Just tested and worked like a charm. Just checked my wife's 5s. Didn't have option

thats awesome! how does it sound? a noticeable improvement in sound quality? this is one feature I've been waiting for for a long long time

Yes, it's a very noticeable improvement in call quality. The wife and I both got 6+ today and I called her when she was out running an errand. She immediately commented that it sounded like I was standing next to her.

I tried the speed test and got 6 down and 3 up in the 3 bars of coverage area I tested it in.

Not all the phones have the feature or would have it necessarily at least perhaps not for a bit, so Verizon is and will be (at least for the near future) selling phones that won't support it.

it will switch without dropping.
Are you sure? Is that covered somewhere? I believe with GSM networks that's the case, but not quite sure about it being like that with CDMA networks.

Hi,
Can someone check and see if the Verizon iPhone 6/6+ has WiFi Calling in its settings? It's under "Phone", I believe.

I don't see it and Verizon has already announced that they won't enable it until the middle of 2015

Under you device there's a section called "Change Features". But after I turned on the option on the phone, it was already enabled under features on the Verizon website for me. I didn't have to enable anything on the website. It just happened.

Ok, looks like since I just changed my plan to the single line it's still pending and I can't change anything until that is completed. Will try in a couple days.

So with HD voice and the VoLTE enabled, if one ventures out of LTE coverage will it switchdown or just drop the call?

it will switch without dropping.

The Verizon FAQ doesn't make it sound that way:
Will my call be handed off automatically when I move from the 3G network to the 4G LTE network and vice versa with Advanced Calling 1.0?

No, calls won’t switch between 3G and 4G LTE networks. If your call starts on the 3G network and you move to a 4G LTE coverage area, your call will continue as a 3G/CDMA call. However, if your call starts on the 4G LTE network and you move to a non-4G coverage area, your call will drop.

I tried to add it to my line, but it asked me to contact customer support to make an adjustment to my features/plan. I wonder if it has anything to do with having unlimited data...

I'm on hold with them right now (to the tune of 15 minutes and counting) because it wouldn't let me add that feature either.

It works! This is AWESOME!

I didn't set anything up in my account at all... I just popped my sim in (used an upgrade from another line - did the whole "keep unlimited switch-er-oo") and noticed a new menu in the "Cellular" menu. Switched Data to Voice + Data and was able to make a call, over LTE!

EDIT: I'm hoping others can chime in here. Is VoLTE working for you? Is this a regional rollout or national?
iPhone 6 on Verizon in Hartford, CT here.

What kind of speeds are you getting? That speedtest screenshot is mid-test.
