I called Verizon today as well. I've been with them for 20 years and well.... I don't like any of the other carriers enough to switch. I'm sure I'll be with them for a while. Anyhow...
They told me it was activation locked. Whatever exactly that means... I said, "Okay, lets say I have to go to Boise, ID for work and your reception is awful there. Can I put in a TMO or ATT sim and use that for work while I'm there?"
The guy said yes but that I may have to call and have Verizon do something in the computer to get it to work.
This to me says, the phone is locked. Whether that's 60 days, forever, etc.... I don't get it. I'm on DPP, so as long as they unlock when paid in full, I'm fine.

Also, what site are you using to find status with IMEI? I tried with IMEI.Info and swappa. Both said my phone was not activated. The SIM checker as well as on TMO's site says that my IMEI is invalid (Yet it works on the other sites.)
When I activated, I didn't use the new sim. That went in the garbage. I used my old sim. Best Buy told me to do it that way. Hope I didn't mess something up.
