I called Verizon today as well. I've been with them for 20 years and well.... I don't like any of the other carriers enough to switch. I'm sure I'll be with them for a while. Anyhow...

They told me it was activation locked. Whatever exactly that means... I said, "Okay, lets say I have to go to Boise, ID for work and your reception is awful there. Can I put in a TMO or ATT sim and use that for work while I'm there?"

The guy said yes but that I may have to call and have Verizon do something in the computer to get it to work.

This to me says, the phone is locked. Whether that's 60 days, forever, etc.... I don't get it. I'm on DPP, so as long as they unlock when paid in full, I'm fine.

Also, what site are you using to find status with IMEI? I tried with IMEI.Info and swappa. Both said my phone was not activated. The SIM checker as well as on TMO's site says that my IMEI is invalid (Yet it works on the other sites.)

When I activated, I didn't use the new sim. That went in the garbage. I used my old sim. Best Buy told me to do it that way. Hope I didn't mess something up.

I purchased a report from swiftunlocks for 99 cents.

Send me your serial in a PM and I will tell you if it's locked. I'll even send a screen shot to you.

I am about to purchase the iphone xs max on Swappa, and the seller states phone is unlocked. I can assume it will work with any carrier worldwide? Any different between unlocked Verizon phone vs Apple store unlocked phones?

I am planning to buy the IPhone XS from Walmart linked to Verizon as it would give me 300$ gift card in the Black friday Sale. Would it be locked to verizon or can I use with other sims local/international?

I plan to do an international trip in a month.

Last week , we bought 2 iPhone XR from Sam club in 1 day event under Verizon contract and both were unlocked out of box . I checked GSX report of IMEI and also tested it with att and international SIM card . All worked fine without issue. Sams club was also giving 300 dollars gift card with activation

I just got a Verizon XS max delivered and it is unlocked right out of the box. I am using it with a T-Mobile Sim to post this.

Run don’t walk. Swappa doesn’t do squat if in 3 months your phone is blacklisted other than refund fee back. PayPal is 180 days to file claim. I used Swappa a lot buying and selling, today it’s very different.
