    Photos and Videos are much bigger than sound files and we can send them.

    Photo: 2.0 Megabyte
    Audio message: 0.016 Megabyte

    Audio qulity is so bad. You can't use them. So why is Apple implement a feature you can't use.

    You can send Videonotes in iMessage in High Quality, but you can't do that with audio only.

    So there must be another reasson. Of course audio codecs will cost money to license them?

    Voice messages are a quick way to get a audio message across. Are you expecting studio quality audio out of a short message?

    I still don't understand the use case for an audio message.

    Many of us send text messages when it is not convenient to speak. If it is convenient to speak why not just call the person instead? What if you send an audio message and the other person can't listen to it right now. What is accomplished?

    Every person I've ever sent an audio message has told me not to send them anymore because they are annoying and inconvenient. I don't even send audio messages from my Apple watch for the same reason.

    I'm expecting WhatsApp and Threema quality and not 1840 quality.

    But there is a GENIUS TRICK!!!!!!

    Go into VoiceNotes, record a voice note and click send via iMessage. SUPERB QUALITY.

    I loooooove Apple. :apple::apple::apple::apple:

    Because it's fun. It's like having a walkie talkie. Sometimes when I'm in texting conversations its fun to make noises or give verbal reactions to what I see. It's just another form of communicating. I don't have to be instant like when I'm on the phone. I can share more than just my voice and it can be kept and replayed.

    With this logic, remove continuity or the Health app because my mom and a few of my friends have no use for it.

    Man,
    A walkie talkie with a chirp would be tons of fun but this? It's like send a wav file back and fourth as if its 1995.

    I also don't get why people still use GIFs and smily icons. There are even GIF 3rd party keyboards.
