i'm on o2 (uk) and my iphone is running 2.2.1 firmware UNJAILBROKEN. this morning i unlocked my phone to find the following extra text (o2) on my homescreen! anyone here know what this could be or if they've experienced it themselves?

i restarted my iphone and since then it's disappeared. not worried, just very interested as to what it could be...

edit: looks like this has already been posted before here! sorry for the new thread...

That looks like it has pushed all the app icons down to fit it in.

Are you sure you haven't been doing some photoshopping? 😀

But mine has never done that, and I'm on O2 also.

100% real! i don't know if there's a way of proving it on iphone (filesize maybe?) but that's definately real!

what's interesting is that even though it's pushed the icons down, it doesn't look as squashed as when you access the home-screen when you're in a call!

Someone from O2 said that happens when the phone reads the sim card incorrectly. Nothing major, just a little glitch.

aah interesting! thanks for the info r.e. lonesome o2 text! 🙂 a restart did indeed sort it REET OOT!

on another note, i spy an bbc iplayer app?
i didn't think one existed in the public domain. prey-tell!

I had a weird thing happen to me. All the buttons disappeared. On the lockscreen, the slide to unlock, and the little grey button weren't there. I couldn't unlock it.

And then my girlfriend called a few minutes later and the same thing, the buttons were gone.

I rebooted and they came back. Just really weird.

Just looked carefully at your screenshot: awesome to know you have "Mobile allowance" on your first screen 🙂

Dudes... that's a GSM 'cell broadcast'
If you are using a cell provider thats using this feature every day you get used to it 🙂
