The VESA for the iMac doesn’t need to carry as much weight, and most of that weight — the center of gravity — is lower.

The Studio Display, I’m assuming, weighs closer to an iMac 27”. And to make it smaller or lower would probably weaken it.

But Apple probably figured it would affect (effect?) very few of their customers.

Where could they put the logo where it wouldn’t look strange in those using the stand?

Instead of drowning in disappointment, you should be asking yourself why you are allowing something so superficial and unimportant to control whether or not you are happy.

First world problem blown out of proportion! What do you do? Stare at the VESA mount side all day?

Just my opinion, each of you are simultaneously right in the narrow sense but also wrong in the broader sense.

Does it matter to the function of the product? No, of course not. I do think it is an interesting comparison to other new industrial designs that use the VESA mount.

The M1 iMac has a similar VESA mount bracket to the Studio Display. Notice how they oriented the Apple logo and VESA mount bracket.

It was considered explicitly to assure most VESA 75mm pattern mounts would receive the display without covering the Apple logo.

Here’s the Pro Display XDR’s back panel.

The branding information was right aligned along the midline of the back to assure the branding was not covered.

Now is branding being visible important once you own the product? No, of course not. But it is important to the corporation selling the product under a branding. The fact that the Studio Display got out the door with this branding faux pas maybe indicates a larger sign of how the Studio Display initiative was taken by Apple. Especially when coupled with the inexplicable decision to make the power cable non-user replaceable and not even bother with trying to make the XDR’s magnetic mounting point work with this packaging. One of the big selling points - the center stage camera - doesn’t even work correctly upon release. Apple seems to have thrown this product together quickly without much attention given to the process when they decided to axe the iMac 5K from the lineup. Just my guess…

It looks like the Apple logo on the Studio Display is proportionally at the same place as on the iMac?

Yes it is, but because the Studio Display can rotate,
they put the 10x10 screw attachment more in the middle of the back.

I’d be curious to see some picture when you do get it! Seems like a cool idea.

Still waiting for the Studio, but already got the Display, and spent an hour to adjust the arm and such,
still have to do some cable management, when the Studio arrives.

The arm is a Humanscale M8, it is a little much for this lighter display, but my iMac 27" used to hang on it.
I might look for the M2 version, looks a bit slimmer, and can easily hold the Display.

This is how it looks, casually working from the couch :)

Man that looks great! Nice work! Does that arm do rotation? And if so does it do alright with the mount?

At my work office, I have a Humanscale M/Flex with M2.1 dual monitor arms. They're very nice and stable with good cable management channeling and loops on it.

I have bounced around the idea of eventually replacing the iMac 5K in my home office with a Studio Display + iMac 24in using the dual monitor arms from Humanscale. I'd probably have the 5K display centered and rotate the iMac into portrait as an "accessory display" off to the side. Never mind the fact that is where the smarts are located. ?

That's a plus in my book. I'm especially very happy not to have the monolithic Apple logo-emblazoned iMac chin dominating my workspace.

Hi, what's the distance from the bottom of the display to the lowest screw holes?
I'm new here so can't see responses, but it LOOKS TO BE ABOUT 60mm from centre of bottom screw to bottom edge of the 24" Mac (2022).

If you have more definitive info, I'd appreciate it, as I need it for mine in a 410 mm under-cabinet space, so the desk stand options MIGHT fit are few and far between (and I don't want a heavy wall- or cabinet-mounted articulated arm)

Thanks in advance...

Hi, guys, any one can you please post exact dimensions of vesa adapter for Apple studio display 27”? Was thinking to cut it by myself. Too expensive to buy. Thank you.
