I thought I'd have a crack at designing a personal website that follows the recent initiative to follow the proposed Web 1.1 specifications, so here's VGA - Life Without Megapixels a site written specifically for Safari 4 and Classilla :)

It's been a good exercise in learning the frustrations of designing for different browsers - what works in one, breaks in another - but largely I've fixed most glitches.

EDIT:****Well that was shortlived - my account has been suspended :/ ****

EDIT: All good - moved entire site to a reputable paid for account!

Awesome work! Once you can get it back up, perhaps with the help of Macintosh Garden Hosting, we'll add it to the main directory. :)

P.S. Love the N8!

I've moved it to godaddy, so the link is now active again

I do have a macintoshgarden account but unfortunately there's not enough space to host it there.

Take note: avoid infinityfree.net web hosting - they promised unlimited bandwith/uploads etc etc but clearly have a ploy to hold your site to ransom once it's active!

Gosh... that Six Million Dollar Man vid. So cool. My childhood , remember playing Steve Austin with my brother , trying to run in "slow motion" making the sound TuuhhTuuhhTuuhh... lol.
And the HL-10 crash with music and radio background fascinated me.
Anyway, it fits very well there .

Same here...as soon as those end credits rolled me and my brother would leap off the sofa then go into slow motion :D

The amount of detail and attention that went into that opening sequence is incredible - music by famous composers, real crash footage, Lee Majors miked up in a HL-10 cockpit for authenticity, the schematics for the limbs with real engineering data....I'd sincerely say it's a work of art :)

True. I'll rate it as one of my fav op sequence of these time, with The persuaders and Manix, but with these last, it's more the music from Barry and Schifrin than the visuals .

Speaking of Soundtracks, a friend made me discover Sven Libaek :
isn't that a very "PowerBook G3" album cover ? :)

Anyway, sorry for OT. good day.

This reminds me a ton of how I had to design the web interface of PPCMC. Since it works with most OS 7/8/9 browsers I had to just try random different things to get the PHP code compatible with Netscape and Internet Explorer. Once I got it though, was definitely worth it.

Are you interested in open sourcing this for others to build off of? Here is the only PHP code I’ve ever written, for the PPCMC web interface if anyone wanted to see how it works (released into the Public Domain)..

It already is open source - it's just html that you can right click into :)

There's no php or background stuff going on, the whole site was written in TextWrangler - back in the day I would use Dreamweaver but seeing as I'd forgotten every scrap of html I used to know I thought it would be informative to be as basic as possible.

Can anyone confirm the audio playback on the music pages is now broken in Classilla?

Since moving to the new web host, all wav files are truncated to only 5 or so seconds in Classilla. I linked a wav file to another server and then Classilla said it didn't even recognise the file type!

Wondering whether I've broken my OS9 install?

Yes. In Classilla / OS9 I get "Tittle *player not compatible* - click here"... But when I do I get to a reader lasting 3 - 2 seconds.
Downloading the wav and the mp3 seems to works though, wasp.wav for example is 4.9 mb, seems complete.

Thanks - at least it's not my install then.

So frustrating - tried settiing content/mime types but makes no difference. Also tried changing from .wav to .aif and .au but does the same - only Classilla effected.
