It doesn't support WebDAV for now; I'm thinking of it, but now it's 'only' compatible with SMB and UPnP Media servers (like Plex)

PLEASE do add support. Would love to be able to stream from my seedbox via SSH/SFTP. Killer feature

Don't mean to be annoying but I'd like to make another request. Currently subtitles are displayed on a black border, I'd like the option to remove the border seen in the picture:

Really starting to like this app btw! Keep up the good work.

Not annoying at all, it's ok :)! I'm adding a settings section to the app, where you'll be able to change aspects like this one (but can't give you a launch day yet).
Thanks :)

P.S: Would be ok if the black background remains on screen, but only behind the text, fitting its shape? My concern about removing it completely, is that reading white letters on light backgrounds might be difficult

Bought this app a couple of days ago and it has been great. So far has played everything I've thrown at it from my NAS. I would, however request that the app filter out hidden files/directories and even better filter out files other than video files. I have a WDTV live that adds *.xml, *.metathumb etc.

Thanks for the good work!

Yep, +1 on filtering out non-media files.

Also would like to see an option to ignore "The" if it is the first word in a directory name. Kodi has this feature and I find it very handy.

Best,

Awesome. Yeah, keeping it behind the text as you said would be great!

Fine, I'll add it to my to-do list ;-)

Hi,

Is this a universal app? If I buy it for the AppleTV, will I get it for the iPhone and iPad too?

Does the Video Explorer app support and display embedded metadata and artwork? All of my MP4 files are stored on my TimeCapsule and have been tagged using iFlicks. It would be great if that artwork and video info (Episode Title, Episode Number, Series, Description, etc.) was displayed in the app. I couldn't see many screen-shots of the app so wasn't sure. If not, is this something you could add in a future update?

Not so far; I made a "Video Explorer" for iOS, but it's a web browser that finds videos and allows you to stream them to chromecast, etc... So it's not exactly the same app. However I'm thinking of improving it to match the version I've made for the AppleTV (With NAS/PLex support)

Hi! That's something I'm working on and I want to add in the future, that's for sure. However I can't give you a a date yet

This is a bit of a stab in the dark...but! A lot of people are looking to move over to the cloud for video hosting with services such as google drive, dropbox etc. Have you considered being able to hook up to services like this to stream video rather than looking at local network drives?

First off, good job. It still needs a lot of polish but the simplicity and speed are great.

Second, I'm finding two problems. The directory listings are all in a seemingly random order, and anamorphic settings aren't being respected (ie. my DVDs are all showing at their native 720x576, rather than their intended anamorphic 1024x576 or 768x576). I think I noticed other people mentioning the first problem, but has no one else bumped into the second?

Thank you :)!
As for the random order, can you please (or anyone) take a picture with your phone and send it to me (somehow) or post it here? I can't reproduce that problem, my NAS is listing files alphabetically and I need to figure out what's going on.
The second problem.. what format are those videos? I've observed those problems with .ts files and "non standard" ones, but mp4/mov/avi/mkv seems to be working, and I need more information to find out what's failing.

Yes, that's something I'm thinking about :)

The anamorphic issue occurs with m4v files that are encoded with normal settings on Handbrake.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know that my app, Video Explorer, which is able to play content from your LAN Media Servers (including PLEX , NAS, and shared folders), is already In Review :)

You can take a look here

I hope it gets approved for launch day!

Can you point me to some basic instructions on how to use the Video Explorer on Apple TV4? I have no idea what SMB AUTH request is when I go to my macbook. I tried typing my Ip address also no luck. Can't you make it easier?

Just use NAStify. Its amazing. Activity on VE has seemed to stop.

Your reasoning?

VE dev has released several updates and has been actively communicating with users on this very forum as recently as two days ago.

NAStify, while a better product in some ways, hasn't had a single update since day 1 (I last checked 3 days ago, maybe I'm wrong by now?), and for me at least, it crashes every 5 mins or so.

I'm not knocking NAStify. It's good. But your characterisation of VE activity as stopped seems grossly inaccurate. VE has moved past some of the day 1 bugs. NAStify has not. As such, I have higher hopes for VE.
