EDIT: Just in case anyone caught me, I didn't mean to leave the obvious spelling error unchecked. The word is desperately, from the root sperare, Latin for "to hope." It's fine to be proud as a liberal, but bad spelling isn't becoming, neither for you or for proud liberals.
