Really dangerous to use Vision Pro while driving. Sure can cause serious accidents.

Please don't run for office. Let's just extend those bans everywhere, even where they don't make sense shall we?

If you're on a skateboard or rollerblade and you're doing what the guy/gal in the video is doing, you'll crash immediately. Obviously you'd have to be using it in full passthrough, and there's no harm in that — as people have shown playing pingpong.

The problem in the video is someone using an autopilot and clearly being distracted.

Reserve your bans for what makes sense. Don't go overboard just because you're angry.
I understand that it is not "most folks" experience to have either lost a loved one or experienced first-hand and witnessed the bloody carnage at an accident scene due to driver negligence, let alone, watch two young lives slip away before you while you're administering CPR with another total stranger until the paramedics arrive.

You're confusing anger with compassion.

Does the constitution allow the federal government to make traffic laws? Seems like that is a state level issue. Pretty sure every state already has distracted driving laws on the books which this neatly falls into (regardless of if you have pass through turned on).

Newsfeed fulls of Apple Vision Bro's rn.

Just prosecute them and make an example already.

Interesting coincidence.
How often do you drive by a car, do have your camera at the right spot and get the opportunity to tape something like this? About like to win the Powerball - or something like that.

come on...
Good move Pete. - create that situation and tell all the possible morons not to do that.
Um, are you unaware that we live in a surveillance state? In an urban environment, you're being filmed every time you leave your house, both by government and business CCTV, and by people on the street taking selfies or filming something else when you enter the frame. In addition, many drivers have GoPro or other cameras mounted on their dashboards, as do cops.

Like it or not, there are plenty, even multitudes, of morons who think it's safe to drive a vehicle at 100 feet/second while not looking where they're going, listening only to their entertainment media. Hoping you and your loved ones are fortunate enough to never encounter one on the roads. Especially as a pedestrian, motorcyclist or bicyclist.

I get the feeling this guy is going to get meme'd for years to come... at least he got the Internet fame he probably wanted. :p

No chance. He'll be supplanted by hundreds or even thousands of motorists doing exactly the same thing. Probably within a year of VP sales.

Field of view is a huge issue. The headset offers no peripheral vision, and it blocks your natural peripheral vision... which.. is more than a little important while operating a vehicle on the road..

Also, actually paying attention to driving the fraking car rather than whatever clown porn site they have loaded????

sigh
They probably weren’t paying any less attention than any other Tesla owner, to be fair…

That's the kind of accusation that's often hurled at Apple device users. You only buy Apple because you want others to see you using it.

I have a reservation for a Cybertruck. But if you think I wanted it so that I could be seen in it, it must be projection because you're wrong. I think Cybertruck is cool. I have bought many cars because I thought they were cool. I had a Pontiac Grand Prix that had a heads up display. So Cool. I had a 2000 Honda Insight that was the first hybrid car I could buy. It was cool that it got 60 mpg. I later got a Prius that was not cool. It looked so much like a Ford Focus that I would often mistake one for the other if I saw one approaching me on the highway. I just needed a car to drive in Bethesda, because my Insight was back in Texas. After a year, I sold that Prius to my Dad, and I bought a new Prius that had the cool iconic aerodynamic Prius design. Five years later I traded it in for another Prius, because Prius was still cool. I didn't think it was cool when Honda released an Insight sedan that looked like the new Prius.

In all these cases, I meant these cars were cool to me. I didn't care what other people thought.

As for Cybertruck, I wanted it for the coolness, and also because it would seat six people and it had room in the bed for six people's luggage. I would be using it as an SUV with an emphasis on the U. We could take it on road trips, and we could even tow a small RV trailer. And I could take it to Lowes or IKEA. Or the landscaping place to bring home rocks, or bricks, or sod. Truck things, though it would be used as an SUV more of the time.

Unfortunately, the production model of Cybertruck only seats five people, and my family is six people. That makes it far less practical for me. And the behavior of Tesla's CEO in recent years keeps me from thinking "maybe I can still make Cybertruck work for me". So I won't likely be getting a Cybertruck. I still think the truck itself is cool.
I’m getting a cyber truck because it’s the coolest, most innovative product since the iPhone. As for the CEO’s behavior, I think what he’s doing is great; exposing those in power and the corrupt establishment which is why corporate media has been on a tear with all the smear campaigns and the govt agency filing a suit against SpaceX for not hiring non citizens… which would be against the law because some of the work they do is classified! You should start getting your news from independent sources. All the self-respecting journalists have gone indy. Mainstream media is pure propaganda… worse than Chinese state run media. The difference is, Chinese people know it’s propaganda whereas 40% of Americans still think mainstream media is actual news.

I think there are nicer looking EV’s out there bringing innovation too, but then it’s down to personal taste. It’s definitely unusual and intriguing. The Cybertruck doesn’t meet European NCAP safety standards though, so I doubt i’ll see one on the roads here unless it is modified for our markets.

Curious, what makes you say that?

Tesla on an empty desert highway. Camera has the car perfectly framed in the shot before the driver was even visible. Driver is doing all the stupid gestures for no show. Nothing about the video is legitimate.

Regardless if it’s staged … The reactive tweet isn’t going to stop every person that does that.

Never underestimate the propensity for people to be incredibly stupid. There will be somebody out there that will probably try this Like those that would do so intentionally for clout (does nobody remember the Tide Pod Challenge, or other stupid things like that?)

I’d say let Darwin’s Law handle it, but the chances are too great that innocent people would be caught up in that. Instead, I’m all for jail time for people that do that. At a minimum, treat them like an impaired driver.

Looks are subjective, but I’m sure you’d agree Cybertruck will turn more heads than any other car out there because it’s so different. And on an objective level, it’s an automotive breakthrough; from the exoskeleton to the design to the tonneau cover to the fact that’s it’s the first with steer by wire and first 48v, etc. which brings out the nerdy enthusiast in me. And the latest version of FSD, while not unique to Cybertruck, is one of the most advanced and impressive tech I’ve seen.

It’ll turn heads due to it being different in the countries where it’s relevant most definitely. It’s one of those cars where people are impressed at that difference, intrigued, or think it looks awful and impractical.

Personally, I’m more interested in the model 3 as that is closer to a car that would suit my needs, silly indicator buttons aside.

As for people who buy trucks who don’t need it, if you haven’t noticed, the VAST number of drivers on the road drive solo so they technically don’t even need a 4 seater so let’s not be a hypocrite.

My main car is a 2 seater for the expressed purpose of not having passengers.

It is sad because us humans are stupid and will think oh it is good enough to try it.

It might be a case of Apple should disable video pass through in conditions like a moving vehicle remove the option to even pretend it is possible or think it is possible.

It is something I learned while cycling for safety is if the lane is to narrow to safely pass me in lane the correct way to ride is left of center and completely remove the option and importantly the appearance of an option. Same basic logic applies here.

Tesla "drivers" on the road continue to surpass Mustang drivers at Cars and Coffee events in total acts of monumental stupidity..

This is my shocked face...

It used to be a close race.. Now? Tesla "drivers" have the race won.. they've lapped the field.

SMFH
And here i thought it was BMW drivers. Sorry, my bad. /s
