Sorry I think this is too much. Too much money on extravagance. Do they really need this to sell their products? With so much going on in the world their worries should be giving back to the community, not building hyper expensive and luxurious stores around the world.
Yes so much to be worried about. So much going on, communities needing help. So many important things... yes it’s true!

So why are you worried about how much Apple spends on one of their stores? Is that what we should all be worried about, or you’ve got enough concern worked up to cover all of us?

Yeah, it was just a bit overhyped. :)

Anyway, I found someone else’s video where they quietly walked through the mall. They passed other stores (I had no idea Zara had stores that huge!), approached the “underground” entrance - which didn’t seem underground at all, given the design of the mall. Then they queued, entered and got a guided tour from an excited Apple employee (albeit with the audio cut from that point. Odd)

Worth a look:

Nice video.

That escalator ride at 7:20 is trippy AF! 😮

BTW: Looks like all the Apple employees are wearing the Apple Face Mask.

Apple store's purpose is only to raise apple's ego showing its magnificency to the world, similar to swastikas around berlin during nazi german. Why?

Apple stores never makes discounts. You will always pay FULL price of a mac/iphone/etc regardless its the day one or a day before that product discontinues. You can buy everything for a lower price in a nearby walmart/mediamarkt and considering apple stores are always in highly populated places, you can certainly find one.

genius bar... noob-to-noob customer service. Hi, how can i setup my gmail account on a mac? seriously??

Try apple products before buying them? its not a ferrari showroom! we all know how looks/feels an iphone/mac and even if we are just landed from mars, we can still try them in above mentioned stores.

Products support service: this is the only good thing about apple stores and in fact 99% of times i entered in apple store was only with a broken iphone, and exited from it with a refurbished one. But for such service, its enough a warehouse smaller 20 times than an apple store. but of course you cant show a big big big apple (swastika) above its entrance....

Visited the store today, and some thoughts:

- This would have to be one of the smallest Apple Stores I've been to globally. The previous tenant was a nightclub occupying 17,000sqft, but this didn't seem like 17k sqft. Apple could have possibly taken a smaller floorplate (due to rental considerations?), or that they allocated a big backroom area. Judging from the entrance layout, I'm inclined towards the former.

- The basement level had the typical Apple look and feel, but had a narrow layout, presumably due to holding area allocations. Personally, thought the dome area was a little disappointing. Architecturally it looks more appealing on the outside. Visited the store on a cloudy day and it felt drab, as the dome was lighted one-dimensionally. Perhaps they could warm up the space in bad weather, by mixing in some artificial light.

- The staff were great as usual. I brought my parents (on the context of lunch!), and they gave us priority access. Big kudos to them for having to cope with safe distancing and sanitation procedures, while keeping the retail experience personable. I bought a couple of Sports Loops and the retail experience was handled very well.

- The Apple Face Mask looked cool, it looked very thin, comfortable but yet functional. They were able to provide face masks to customers, I should have requested for one. :)

Will be interesting to see how this store copes with the 2020 product launches.

Indeed it is. One of the best bits. Loved how the louver's reflections gently curved. I wouldn't have expected that. You think that was deliberate? Cool stuff.

Hadn't noticed. I need another look.
Edit: Yes they are. Like a translucent mesh. The sort of stuff you use for silk-screening.

It always amazes me the architecture and design that can go into something created on that level of sophistication.

Side note:

I would like to visit Singapore one day, looks like an amazing vacation destination.

Are you a bot? Based on this post, I'd say they need to wipe your memory and rework your AI from the ground up.

Apple today opened its new Marina Bay Sands retail store in Singapore, and YouTube channel Superadrianme TV has produced a video walkthrough, embedded below, that gives viewers a real sense of what it's like to visit the stunning one-of-a-kind construction.

marina-bay-sands.jpg

The video includes Apple's traditional clapping welcome for customers at an official store opening, the 45-meter-long underwater entrance tunnel from Basement 2 of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, and the long escalator ride to reach the top.

It also shows off the domed main floor, including the central oculus at the apex of the structure and the surrounding louvered blinds, which illuminate the interior while keeping customers protected from the scorching rays of the midday sun.

The store includes not only the usual product display areas and gigantic video wall anchoring The Forum, but also Apple's first underwater Boardroom for business meetings, training, and private events.

Apple Marina Bay Sands is the company's third retail store in Singapore, and opening-day visits were by reservation only, with reservations made through the store web page.

Wow I was In Singapore in 2018. and when I think of a futuristic city Singapore is number one. The buildings are from a future design! So I’m not surprised this Apple store resides in Singapore. I was so excited to visit the Singapore Apple store but this floating one beats it out of the park.

Other than the social stuff that another poster pointed out, Apple makes products that last much longer than other electronics.

I'd say that's a great way to contribute to society.

Remember, Jobs mission was to make better products that would enhance the lives of people.

When I read the article I was super interested in the 'Underwater Boardroom'
I imagined some kind of glass-walled underwater viewing room, kind of like the Stromberg HQ in "The Spy Who Loved me".

After watching the video it's... just a basement meeting room.

Apart from that it it looks epic!

Yeah, I was expecting Jaws to come out. He'd be a pretty effective security guy!

Seems like a lot of investment there. Especially the tunnel leading to escalators up to a dome platform above water... meaning, the entire thing.

Now if you'd compare this to pretty much every other Apple store in the US... you'd ask yourself, what the heck is going on here?

This was a existing floating bar that was converted so build cost was low.

I think you are too much to require apple to do what you think that is right to do.

Despite the existing platform, the retail staff said it was a construction challenge. The panes of glass had to be transported on water.

Now make the same thing as a floating plattform please. Not that it would be practical by any means except mobility, but in combination with small waves it would certainly be a special experience visiting the store...

so, tell me what i said wrong...

Pretty much all of it.

Corporate branding was around long before Nazis, and using logos or insignias for advertising goes back centuries.

And you can absolutely "haggle" and get get discounts at Apple stores, because I've done it more than once, at more than one store.

Face it - you wanted to be a troll, and you came out flailing with absurd comparisons and speaking in absolutes that you have no idea about. I hereby step down as your pro bono life coach. Cheers.
