I actually thought this video was spoof video mocking how little difference the extra length makes.

I realize the game plays differently, but the game completely rips off assets of tiny wings. All the sound effects, the font, menu interface, etc. Poor form.

Sorry, but this is NOT a reason to upgrade to the new iPhone.

you still dont get it -- youre not *supposed* to upgrade to the new phone every year. only phone geeks do that...the millions & millions & millions of normal customers dont.

apple doesnt release a new phone each year to appease phone geeks. they continue improve what they consider to be the greatest mobile phone in the world. this is incremental, similar to a car's annual improvements. evolutionary, not revolutionary.

I do 'get it', and whilst your point would be completely valid, we've not seen a 'revolutionary' iPhone update in a LONG time now. The iPhone 4/4s were most certainly evolutionary.

Strange that the developer plugs the supposed new iPhone and its gaming experience, and then slams Apple's search feature for not finding the game.

I don't see how the video "slams" Apple's search feature. In my opinion it was just a blatant, "here it is in the App Store." In fact, the whole video is just a ploy to get people to download their game. Entirely underwhelming; nothing of interest here.

I guess I don't get why you wouldn't want a phone to be 16:9. Do you not watch ANY video content created in the last 5 years? Do you like letterboxing 16:9 or do you enjoy blowing it up and cutting off the sides of the image? Your pick.

For non 16:9 apps, I think I'd let the user specify what they want to do. Have it stretch or crop or perhaps allow the dock show at all times in that space. Or user defined functions in that space.

What I was getting at is that it's not a crazy mess, it should be easy to get used to. I was saying as a soothing. not bad.

I really hope that the taller screen isnt the killer feature here...a hour plus keynote about how 'magical' the extra height is will really be taking the piss.

You just know that they are going to go on about how you can see full hd widescreen videos and stuff.

Sorry, but this is NOT a reason to upgrade to the new iPhone.

You already seem angry about an announcement that hasn't happened yet. At least wait until they ANNOUNCE the phone...

then you can bitch and moan.

Egg Drop! will support a taller screen when the iPhone 5 comes out, just like it supported iPad and Retina. I last updated it 15 months ago, but all I had to do was NOT HARDCODE THE DIMENSIONS! Holy crap other devs, stop hardcoding things! The following should NEVER be in your code:

- Numbers based on pixels (base it on inches or percentages, never pixels!)
- Strings that the user will see. (It's a little harder to program, but it's worth it in the end because it makes localization later on a breeze.)

Also, avoid using bitmap images. Use Apple's standard UI elements when you can, and quartz drawing commands when you can't.

Each and every one of you complaining about having to support another dimension or pixel density need to just stop sucking when you write your code. Follow MVC, then take its concept of dividing stuff up a little further and keep your resources out of your code. It makes supporting new devices effortless.

quartz is there for a reason, utilize it. also makes for faster more solid apps. good tip.

I'm still using a 3GS with its 320X640 screen. I'm perfectly fine with it. I don't find it to small its like the perfect size. I see all those android phones with 4 and 5 inch screens and i think of how cumbersome and heavy those things are.

And yes it would make it 16:9 but really are two stupid black bars at the top and bottom that big a deal?

Quit bitching.

ZzZzZzZ

So not excited about a bigger screen. I like the size of my iphone. If I want a bigger screen, I pick up my ipad. This is the first time I am feeling disappointed in whats coming. The back does look sweet though.

Something I am interested in at the moment though is an updated iMac!!!!!

So rather than showing how the longer screen could affect existing, popular apps, this developer decided to advertise their own app, which comes complete with ripped off Tiny Wings sound effects! Smooth move.
