Getting back on topic, I wonder could Sony update the software on the WF-1000XM4 to better support the iPhone and iPad?
Could you jog with the XM4s and have them stay in?Just FYI the XM4s are significantly lighter and smaller. I could never get the 3s to stay in my ear, they were just too heavy… the new ones are much better. You need to jiggle a bit to get the fit snug but once they are in, they stay and the fit is comfortable. Still not as easy a fit as AirPods but the sound benefits are worth it for me.
my gut says probably not, or at the very least I wouldn’t want to wonder if they might fall out. I’ve never tried because when I’m running I don’t care about audio quality so I use the Airpods which are lighter, less noticeable. But I can say I’ve walked around with the XM4s for the last two weeks, i walk fast, and they’ve never fallen out.Could you jog with the XM4s and have them stay in?
I find that odd. I've had the WF-1000XM3's 3x in 2019/2020 as I kept switching back and forth with the Air Pods Pro (difference in music quality and ambient quality range vs convenience and size) and didn't have any issue other than realising I could not pair 2+ devices and allow easy switching - which I think is fixed in the XM4's (mark IV).
Considering Ericsson created the Bluetooth technology, Sony's partnership with Ericsson at that time made Sony the 1st manufacturer of a bluetooth headset and that was shipping under the SonyEricsson brand, so I'm suprised. Did you update the firmware of those? Recall Apple had firmware issues for months on the AirPods Pro for many people. Nobody gave up on those. But each to their own.

The ultimate guide to Bluetooth headphones: LDAC isn't Hi-res
Sony’s LDAC has risen to popularity as the audiophile-grade Bluetooth codec. Can LDAC match the quality of wired 24-bit/96kHz Hi-Res audio?www.soundguys.com
Ultimately, LDAC users are likely to spend a fair bit of time listening to the 330kbps version. Unfortunately, the available resolution and 18kHz cut-off frequency are objectively inferior to CD quality, Qualcomm’s aptX, and SBC.
Check out the Bowers & Wilkins pi7 instead. Best sound quality yet in the wireless earbuds range.
I've never owned a pair, but that sounds like they're not properly fitted in your ears. Or are faulty, or have some config setting limiting volume?Just got mine and I must be doing something wrong. because phone call volume is insanely low, at full vol I can't hear the person on the other end and they can't hear me.
I cannot tell the diff between noise cancelling on and off.
The certainly do have better base but they do not have mind blowing audio.
Pairing isn't well managed
Said that wrong. Apple has offered lossless similar to FLAC for a lot of years now. ALAC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Losslesslolwut, no
