I'm so glad you got some quality time with this and shared your firsthand impressions. I thought the appeal of this would probably be more experiential than not.

As a purely additional display it'd be hard to justify, but thinking about it, this might make sense as an alternative to yet another Mx Mac + display & iPad Pro, since for me it would do more than any of those anyway. Interesting.

Man this discussion... I guess if I were still obsessed with impressing others my superficial image I'd have to worry what it looks like from a fashion perspective, but thankfully it's been a while since I was a teenager.

Yeah, I'm going to look *absolutely* ridiculous wearing this at either my work desk, or when I'm in bed, but I am also betting that I will quickly get over worrying about how ridiculous I look in about 30 seconds.... Just the potential impact this will have on my day-to-day productivity will be worth it, and this will probably encourage me to be more into my side hobbies, too (photography, music creation etc).
The photography aspects interest me a lot from taking them to editing them. I used to take several thousand photos a year with my DSLR.

Obviously the demo would cause a WOW effect. I am wondering how the experience is in our day to day life and activities….
I’m excited about the potential…

I just hate the thought that my kids are going to grow up in a world where everyone works at home in isolation, and when they venture out, they have goggles on to stay in their virtual system. And we'll wonder why nobody has any social skills.

Interesting, looks like the experience is great with Apple's touch. In 5-10 years Apple might just be the leader here *IF* they can get this much more comfortable and cheaper. It doesn't sound like it's much more comfortable than a $299 Quest 2, and it's interesting how Apple went to great lengths to hide the strap that goes over the top of your head, which to me right away signals discomfort as I always hated that strap on my Vive/Quest. It doesn't matter how much polished the UI and OS are, convincing people to put these on for extended periods of time is still going to be really difficult with today's product. But yeah, in 5-10 years this is going to be awesome...maybe.

People also look ridiculous wearing AirPods. But it is the norm now.

People just look ridiculous, all the time, if you pay attention. And the more someone is worried about looking ridiculous, the more ridiculous they wind up coming across. Fashion is a whole industry dedicated to making people look more ridiculous under the cover of it being sanctioned by a design.

If you're not seeing these on the bus its because people are afraid they'll get nicked. You'll see them on airplanes, and likely in the office, and they're not going to be mocked because the device is serving a purpose and who are we, as grownups, to judge?

Airplanes! Peak ridiculousness for people... Neck pillows, body cramps, awkward eating, all crammed well within each others personal space and trying to cope... Not the place to worry about having goggles on...

How heavy? I missed that part.

But whether feather light or heavy, I doubt all but a few will be using it at all times (too many batteries to carry around... for those who can afford what will probably be highly proprietary batteries only from Apple).

He alluded that it was around as heavy as a Quest 2, and maybe a bit heavier, but again just what I had taken from what he said in the video. This is going to be super uncomfortable after 30 minutes IMO, but it depends on the person and their tolerance. Note he also mentioned it has a top head strap which was no where to be seen in Apple's marketing.

There is. Here's an AI transcribed version. I won't reveal where this came from because I don't want it to get flooded and they shut off the free transcription, but I can you of at least 2 other platforms that do this - sonix.ai and Descript.
wait but did you get that transcription off a youtube video link ? or did you have to download the video audio for that?

but then again it's all about being glued to a screen or screens and avoiding reality nowadays.
Oh please. If you really believed that, you wouldn't be starring at a screen and posting here. And what is so terrible about sitting in front of a screen and watching a movie? As life and society gets more complicated and dangerous, a little escapism can be a good and necessary thing.

I wonder how transparent the screen is, and field of vision. If both are good, I can see folks wanting to use it while driving... being able to get info (to the side, of course) just by looking at businesses, buildings, landmarks, roadkill, etc.

I can't wait to try this at the Apple Store. Though I can't see myself ever buying one, it would need to be at most, £1,000 for me to justify... but I understand the technology on this thing is out of this planet and the price must match. Maybe in the future.

Amazing info, but I think im going to wait at least a couple of generations before getting one. Gives me enough time to save too.

The screen isn't transparent. It uses cameras to project your surroundings.

MR, that keeps leaking Apple secrets, got a press pass?
They only report about imformation that was publicly leaked elsewhere (sometimes within their own forum, admittedly), as far as I can see.

I have no doubt that this thing is very cool and very well done.

Still can't see me using one except for the novelty of trying one out that someone else has bought...

Pineapples were seen as the most luxurious of fruits that they were rented out for special events.

I can see the Vision Pro possibly being rented out.

skeptical for the version 0 like the apple watch, maybe VisionPro will have a 2 year cycle and Timmy will release an SE version a year after this. Can‘t wait for the next version - seems Apple go all in on this and next version will be slimmer and improved silicon chip.

i don’t mind carrying the battery pack.

This is like the wait for the Apple Watch and iPhone combined. I really want to try the Vision Pro. :):)

My first thought was between this and the mask I still have to wear to work...I'd be completely faceless if I wore one of these 😂 Scary thought, to be honest
