Views on thread bumping

According to a strict interpretation of the rules, if you're posting a WTB thread, you get exactly one opportunity to make sure that the entire MR community across all the world and all of time sees it. Better make it the perfect post at the perfect time (of day, and of week, and all the way up to decade) or you might not get a response and lose your opportunity.

The reason is that when moderators send you "Reminders" (and of course their messages are locked from replies because they don't want to actually help you or hear that you just wanted help), they refer you to this page:


On that page (see #7) this topic is linked as justification of why you shouldn't bump.

Fine. I hope more people find this and discover how stupid it is.

It's a private company and not a public place.

I am thankful they do not give me an option to reply or else I'd have been banned for giving them a piece of my mind.

But then again I get triggered by people with mental health problems that think the world's out to get them and I am part of that Illuminati.

What's your point?
If I own a private bakery, and my Pumpernickel is crap, and I want to sell more Pumpernickel, then that REQUIRES that people tell me that my Pumpernickel is too dry or whatever.

they'll adjust if the userbase metrics slides down to a photography forum.

if not then they'll stick to what works for them.
