Find happiness you say? Are we not allowed to highlight the errors of a trillion dollar company releasing incomplete software for a $3500 headset??

It wasn't an error on Apple's part. It was deliberately delayed to the first update with new features.
Just as with enterprise management features.

People don't understand at some point; you have to ship it. There is always version X.x.

Exactly.

Like most large tech companies, Apple marches to a timeline, having to coordinate myriad events/aspects relating to a product release - especially one a complex as AVP. If there are still some minor issues that are unresolved, they'll take a back seat to introduction. And be fixed in multiple future updates.

Sounds like you’re prepared to die on this hill defending this trillion dollar company which can’t even include a very basic security feature in its new OS for a very special product?

Nope. Just reporting how product releases work in the tech world having been involved in a few in the past. Sounds like you're not familiar with that.

Please let us know when you run across a company that delivers complex products with 100% perfection 100% of the time on introduction day. I've yet to find one.

That’s good news. It will save a lot of people a long round trip or weeks without their devices should they be locked out!

Apple discovered, or was made aware of, an error/issue in their 1st release of their complex software for their brand new product. And promptly fixed it.

What is there to highlight beyond the MacRumors story? That Apple did the right thing after the issue was discovered and promptly fixed it, as expected?

Considering this thing is probably going to cost 6 to 7 grand in my country, I think some critical feedback is ok, don’t you?
"critical feedback" is ok, but (seemingly) most are only bickering, just go through the news stories over the past month or so or look in the VPro forums ... the VPro will have limited use initially (at least 1-2 years) for the average consumer and this 1st version is not targeted for that average consumer.

didn't take long to add this feature ...
it's just amazing the reaction to the VPro here, this is by far the most complex computing device today and seemingly everyone complains, complains ...
My guess is that quantum computers are a bit more complex, but I'm not an expert.

Simple. It wasn't ready yet. Expect many more features coming out over the next few months.

Try not to expect 100% perfection 100% of the time. *Especially* on brand new product releases involving complex software.
Or you know, as the wealthiest company in the world with unlimited resources that prides itself of making great products just release it when you have all the basic features included, not in a beta state. Specially if it’s a new product. It never ceases to amaze me how far people can go to defend their beloved company they spent their money on lol

as long as humans are writing/coding SW - there will be bugs ...
and if/when AI writes SW - remember who taught AI

That's not how it works. You may not be aware that released products with complex software often has bugs that are not discovered until after release.

Why the personal insults? I'm not defending Apple. Just expressing how new tech products are released and to not expect 100% perfection 100% of the time; especially on a complex product such as AVP.

The good news is Apple promptly fixed the issue after it was discovered. Try and find some happiness in that.

You can't just throw resources at project. Pick the stories that will make the release cut and everything next gets pushed to new sprint. Rinse and repeat.

This is exactly the feature you delay if you have to.

When you're launching a new product line you don't want any feature which has obvious bugs, hasn't been tested enough or you're just not satisfied with the implementation.

If you need to prioritise you cut the features which isn't absolutely necessary to have on day one.

Apple probably planned a long time ago to have a 1.1 version released 1-2 months after the initial release and this feature is a prime candidate to delay for such an .1 version.

Most people buying the AVP will be technical oriented and such people won't forget their passcode the first month they own the device.

Just look at all the stuff missing from iPhone 1.0 and iPad 1.0 version.
So delaying the option to reset a new product in case of a forgotten passcode is “planned” because you can’t reset any of their other devices when you forget a passcode, right?

Also before you do, don’t give me any of this garbage that visionOS is its infancy. Age is no excuse for a trillion dollar plus company.

so someone can hard reset it at will now straight from the Vision Pro ? id rather not thank you, can we opt out of that "feature"

Complex software for a password reset? When it already exists in nearly every consume product made since idk 1979?

I never said "password reset" is complex.

It seems you are not aware that in a device as complex as AVP, there's a huge amount of complex software written by many dozens of software engineers that handles a huge number of aspects of AVP's operation.

With software dealing with password reset being just a tiny one of those aspects in what could be many (thousands of) lines of code. Apparently that one function, out of perhaps thousands, wasn't tested thoroughly enough with respect to Apples AVP product/software test plan that perhaps focused more on other aspects.

You may also not be aware that despite a company's best efforts to test such a huge piece of software, there is rarely 100% perfection 100% of the time. And as a result, a bug or functionality will slip through. With any company. I've certainly seen that with companies I've worked for over the years.

The good news is, and what you should be happy about, is that Apple promptly fixed that issue soon after it was reported/discovered.

As a Vision Pro user, I agree. It's important to highlight the deficiencies for the device and complain as needed, if we want future generations to be better.

Living in a delusionary state where it's all a pretty garden with flowers is the wrong way to go about things, with anything.

Complaining about the issue days after Apple promptly fixed the problem is strange.

I get it, it feels good to complain. Even when there is no longer a problem to complain about, apparently.

Sadly, some can only find internal happiness by constantly complaining about mice-nuts things.
It is even sadder than that. No one is actually happy doing that. They are just cultivating negativity.
Although on the other hand complaining does have a purpose sometimes.

How did I know this post was coming and now we’re going to play the technicality game aren’t we?

Again, this trillion dollar company that already has quite a few devices on the market, couldn’t think and then implement such a basic feature which you just said you didn’t like because someone ”could” hard reset it, which is now coming in 1.1.

Try again please.

Great to see that it will be available soon. It is a much needed setting/option.

That’s not how it works. This is a fundamental feature so it’s among the first ones in the development timeline. This is clearly an oversight

Yes it is.

This is no different than the first iPhone not having 3G, iPhoneOS 1.0 not having the ability to move apps between pages, iOS not having copy and paste until 3.0, or folders until 4.0, and so forth.

Apple ships when the important stuff is ready. I assure you they didn't "forget" to add this. They simply decided it didn't need to make the cut for 1.0.x.

Apple’s secrecy leads to oversights like these. Now the beta testers aka early adopters will point out the teething problems and some will be fixed and some will require a new hardware revision.
