Visual Voicemail working again

Had the same problem here the last couple days. Couldn't use visual voicemail. Got on live chat with AT&T. Had them remove the data plan and then add it back in. Turned phone off then back on and Bingo...it all works again. Tech support even thanked me for giving them the tip.

Only AT&T can fix this, but don't call from your iPhone

No new info here, just confirming what has already been said. I had the same problem, visual voicemail stopped working. Don't bother doing a restore on the iPhone it has no effect. The problem is with AT&T not Apple or the iPhone . The first AT&T person I talked to tried to transfer me to Apple but I knew from this forum that that would be a waste of time. I asked for tech support and after about 15 minutes on hold got a good rep. She confirmed that that the visual voicemail feature was no longer enabled for my phone. She re-enabled it and had me do a hard reset. It still did not fix it. She had me do another hard reset and this time when I went to the visual voicemail icon I got a SCREEN (not voice prompts like the old style dial-in voicemail) asking me to go through the visual voicemail setup process...i.e. choose a password and setup a greeting. All is well now.

Just make sure you call from another phone so you can reboot the iPhone and verify that visual voicemail is working again before you finish with tech support.

Could someone please post a screenshot of their AT&T account page (Manage -> Rate Plan and Features -> View Rate Plan and Feature Detail)? Mine currently has:

I don't see Visual Voicemail anywhere...should I have it or is it part of the IPHONE DATA + 200 feature?

I'm having the same problem, fyi: I tap voicemail and it dials it instead of bringing up the screen.

I had the same problem with visual voicemail not working for several weeks (my iPhone is not my work phone!). Finally realizing my audio voicemail was still working (accessed by holding the #1 down on the key pad), I called ATT support. First customer rep could not fix it, but the "specialist" who I spoke to second did fix it. Had to power down the phone and he reactivated something. Now I'm working again! ATT may have figured this out (for the data specialists at least!).:)

Still Nothing!

Since I changed to combined billing my visual voicemail/voicemail has not worked! I had the CSR's/Tech support people try EVERYTHING on that list, talked to Apple support, and NOTHING! It's been escalated to the top people at AT&T and one of them called me back today and said the typical thing when they don't know the answer.. "It sounds like a phone problem".. I told him to keep searching for the answer..

Any other ideas?????????????

ok, just got off the phone with AT&T with the one person that knows what the hell is going on over there.

i lost my visual VM after an update. here is what you do to fix it.

go to settings, general.

scroll down to see if you have something called, "profile".

if you do, click on it. then REMOVE IT!!!

then RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.

it seems that has something to do with tethering and it makes visual VM not work.

this fixed my problem instantly...

hope it works for you!!!

My second level tech (ensure you tell first level that there are NO 3rd party apps on the phone) had me delete all VVMs then clear the deleted entries. Then he had me reset the network settings (Settings/general/reset/reset Network Settings). Problem solved. Turns out that if you don't manually clear the deleted messages, they fill up the allotted space for messages so you can't get any more.
